NIP and ignorance (vent)

I follow my local news channel on FB and they wanted some feedback on whether mothers should be allowed to NIP or if they should have to go somewhere private. I start reading comments and my blood is just boiling. I can't handle how ignorant and uneducated people are. Some people were anti BF all together saying it was perverted. I don't normally comment on things but I did this time, I just couldn't help myself. Then I couldn't walk away. Ugh, there is just so much stupid out there!

    Ugh!  That's would really piss me off.  Glad you commented.

    Ugh, I hate that.  You know I consider myself someone who goes out where a lot of moms are, and I actually rarely see NIP.  However, to hear some of my guy friends talk about it, you would think they see it all the time, they are so offended! So I totally called them on their BS last time they were ranting about it (at a party a few weeks ago), saying that I am sure they saw like, 1 nursing mom ONCE, and they should just shut up about it.  I also told them that I know about the time they went to a sex club in Amsterdam, and if they didn't find that offensive, they surely shoudnt find a mom feeding her child offensive.  That got them quiet, because none of the girls were supposed to know about that, but my H told me, hahaha!  People are so dumb, but as bfing gets more popular, I really do have confidence it will become more of a non-issue.

    While my H is supportive of NIP, he sometimes feels uncomfortable because he's afraid of doing something to make the NIPper uncomfortable.  I told him that unless he was leering or gagging at her he was probably okay.

    Oregon is pretty crunchy for the most part, I had zero issues NIP. Though I have to admit I kinda stopped doing it when Jericho turned one....I think more people would have an issue with an older baby/child than an infant. Or at least I feel more self conscious doing now than I did when he was itty bitty.

    Usually in Public, if I notice a mother BFing, they are usually covered up. I think most of the time it goes unnoticed because of efforts done to conceal and keep things private.

    However, the one time it did catch me off guard, was at the local Children's museum, where a mother had their newborn latched on, while chasing a toddler and was fully exposed and out in the open, and at one point the baby was no longer latched and it was just out there. I think that made some people uncomfortable, even the moms she passed who were on a bench covered up doing the same thing.
