do you open SO's mail?

or do you wait until he opens it to find out it is?

Re: do you open SO's mail?

  • For me, it depends on my mood and how interesting the envelope looks lol

This! If it is something stupid, no, but if I am being nosy I will.

  • No way! I learned my lesson on Mother's Day when I opened an interesting big envelope that contained a *surprise* photo book of me and DS that he made for me. He got SO mad at me for ruining the surprise. : / oops!

I know that won't ever be an issue here. We are talking about my husband who used my Amazon Prime to order my  Christmas present which meant I got the confirmation email lol

Same here, but usually I don't even open my own mail. H on the other hand is so nosy, he will open everything, even junk mail that comes for me.

Oh my goodness me too! Except it was Mother's Day.

  • I ask first. But one time he got super pissy. It was very funny. It was some ad for US Cellular and I thought it was for me. I told him when he got home and he practically turned red. Dude...you mad? About junk mail?

  • Depends on what it is/who it's from.

Packages, no. Insurance/financial stuff, yes, because I handle that crap.

Personal letters, no, unless it looks like an invitation, then yes, because otherwise he won't RSVP and it will get lost in the shuffle. Much easier for me to tell him he's been invited and write it on the master calendar.

Junk mail, yes, because otherwise he'll let it pile up on the kitchen counter for months.

    This.

Our mailbox is mostly filled with junk mail anyway no matter whose name is on the envelope. My H isn't a big privacy guy so he doesn't care if I open his mail. But I'll leave special things like cards for him to open.

Oh P.S I don't steal the cheque. I just like to open them and get excited for money coming our way. Just thought I'd clarify ;) hahaha

Yep. I handle the house bills and the farm stuff. Most of that stuff comes addressed to him. He doesn't have time for mail usually, so if I didn't open it it'd never get done.

I obviously save birthday cards, fun packages etc. for him.

If it looks like a birthday card, I leave it.  If it looks like a bill or statement, I open it.  I'm in charge of our fiannces and DH has no ability to pay bills.

    Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN

    Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN

    Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14

  • Depends on what kind of mail it is.  Since I work full time and pay our bills 90% of our mail is in my name.  A few things like our cell phone and student loans are in his name.  I just take and open those.  If it is a personal letter, a card, etc I wait and let him open it.  It's his business, not mine.

  • I open it becasue he always forgets or loses them and we've had some incidents of this causing us lots of unnecessary issues (forgotten toll payments leading to tickets leading to almost $300 to get his license back!)
