December 2011 Moms

DH is SOOO over me!!

I STILL have ZERO sex drive. No interest in intimacy at all. I don't want to be touched, let alone kissed, hugged, or anything more. We're more than 7 months postpartum, should this have gotten back to normal?? DH thinks I need therapy....=/

  • Me too, I don't even want a quick peck. And I hate to admit it but I just fake my way through it. I know my sex drive will return eventually so right now im just in it to make dh happy.

  • Are you breastfeeding? If so this is completely normal. Also if LO likes to be carried 24/7, there is something called touch saturation. Where you have so much physical contact with your daughter that you have nothing left for your husband.

  • I wasn't able to breastfeed, unfortunately, so LO is formula fed. She's also a really independent baby, so she's not held ALL the time. I do love to cuddle her, so maybe I feel that that sort of closeness is reserved for her? Maybe? I feel bad about faking the desire for closeness with him. I feel like he deserves more, but I just can't give it to him right now.

  • I would say that you should consider therapy after this has been going on for a year.  It's normal for our sex drives to be low for a complete year after having a child, it's nature's way of keeping us from getting pregnant again too quickly...at least that's what the nurse at our birth class told us.

Have you tried reading Fifty Shades of Grey?  LOL

This is me 100% word for word. Once we get started I get into it but the the getting started part I want nothing to do with. I really feel bad for DH.

  • I feel horrible for my DH. I was just finally getting back into it but then I got pregnant again and now I'm back to not even wanting him to touch me.
  • i'm hoping it is normal because i am the same way. no desire whatsoever. i don't even really want to cuddle or anything. it also is extremely painful the times i have tried it. i also feel bad & i don't want us to drift apart- i never imagined us being a couple that barely ever has sex. i even asked my dr about it & he said to just use a lot of lube. ugh! this week it finally didn't hurt as bad as usual & was somewhat enjoyable.

Hahaha I've thought about that! I've heard that it can get people pretty steamy!

I'm really glad to know that I'm not alone in this. I think if it continues for much longer, I might try talking to a third party. It's hurting DH's feelings. I really should try giving in a little more too. Take one (or a few) for the team.

  • Hmm I would maybe go see your doc.. I was like that when I was KU, but it went away right after I had LO.
  • I read 50 Shades of Grey...nothing.

My friend is 11 months post partum and she says the same thing about the book.  I'm on the second book and it works for me!  The storyline is good too...
