HA!!!....No. The DMV doesn't care about anybody. I'm sure they care more about the large angry crowd they would have on their hands if they let a pregnant woman jump the line than giving the pregnant woman a number and chair.
Nope. I have been twice this month and they have been awful to me both times. I don't know what state you are in but we did make an appointment online (CA) and it cut wait time by a little bit.
Well I made them feel pretty bad when I cried at them. My license had expired AND it was from another state so I had to take the written test and maybe the road test again. Well I failed the written test the first time... and then I cried at the lady told her that I was pregnant and my husband was about to deploy and I didn't know what to do. She felt awful and told me to call back and make an appointment so I could get right in next time and told me the best parts to study in the manual.
I didn't make an appointment the next time but I went first thing when they opened and I asked the man who helped me that time if I was going to have to take the road test because I got stressed out easily and had high blood pressure with my pregnancy. He told me I was legally going to have to unless I could prove that the me on my expired ID was me (because it was in my maiden name and from another state) but he let me sit there and not go back into the line while my husband raced across town (this was right before he deployed) and got our marriage certificate. I passed the written test that time too! YAY!
Wear whatever makes you look most pregnant and act super sweet. Fingers crossed for you!!
They took pity on me when I failed the written test. I have been driving for 14 years and I go and fail the test. The lady just had me mark the correct answer on the one or two I missed that had put me into the failure level.
I didn't have very good luck at the DMV last week. There was no wait, which was nice. The problem was picture time. They didn't tell me before they took it and wouldn't let me retake it (even though there was no one waiting), so it seriously looks like a mug shot. It's one of the worst pictures I've ever taken. I was happy they didn't seem to question my weight when I put my pre-pregnancy weight on the application though. Oh well, so I look like a criminal in my picture for the next 5 years. Maybe if you're just renewing you'll have better luck, I know some states even let you renew online without going to the DMV.
No. Five years ago I was six months pregnant and still had to have my picture retaken and this year I was seven months pregnant and had to have my picture retaken. At least this time I was prepared because I knew they'd insist on a new picture. Last time no hair done, no makeup done. I was stuck with a horrible, horrible picture for five years.

You get to jump the line at mine. There is a everyone line and a pregnant/disability line. It must depend on where you are. It was my fastest trip ever last time.

My husband and I just moved states and had to do this a month ago. It really wasn't that bad for us. We had all of our paperwork that we needed and I reviewed the book several times. I passed the written test the first time. We had to get license plates for both vehicles, take the written test and get new licenses and was in and out within an hour or so. My picture on the other hand was awful because the lady taking the picture snapped it too soon and so I have this weird look on my face. They did let me use my pre-pregnancy weight though
Nope! I went to get my license (name change... finally, after being married almost 3 years), and I had to sit and wait with everyone else. In no air conditioning (it was broken), 100+ degree weather.
Apparently you can make an appointment (I did see one lady totally skip the line), but it had to be made weeks in advance---like 6-8 weeks.

I had to go somewhat recently since I turned 30. I was DREADING it - I don't fair well with mean and grumpy people. The oddest thing happened - everyone was SO nice and helpful and the lines were quick. I felt like I was in the twlight zone. I actually asked to speak to a manager to complimenet her on the staff she had working there. It was a great experience.
