Progesterson Pill???

Hello-

I recently found out that I was pregnant last week. This is my first pregnancy. My doctor did the first round of blood work, and later in the week the second round. During this time my progesteron had gone down, and he put me on oral pills. I thought I would reach out to new moms to see if anyone else had a similar problem, and had a successful pregnancy. I'm really nervous about this.

Re: Progesterson Pill???

  • I personally didnt have to be on progesterone  for pregnancy but a good friend of mine did, with all 3 of her kids.  I guess sometimes women lack enough progesterone, which is whats needed to help little baby stick :) (from what i understand).  I think its fairly common to be perscribed that pill, and if you need it, generally you dont have to take it for long.  But, as i said, i dont know much so thats all i can say that could help you!

  • I took it as a precaution (I had issues getting pregnant in the first place, got pregnant on Clomid) and had a perfectly healthy pregnancy.

Be glad you just have to take it orally, a good friend of mine had to take it vaginally. Fun times!

Best of luck, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

  • I took them until I was 12 weeks pregnant. At that point, my doctor said that my placenta will be ample enough to provide for the baby. She acted like it wasn't a big deal, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

  • I had to take the suppositories until 14 weeks. It was totally just a precaution--my levels dipped a bit between blood tests. They weren't too low, but because they dropped a little I was put on them. I had an easy pregnancy and a healthy baby! It's normal to be worried though :)

  • I had to with both of my first two pregnancies. First time I took it orally then the next prenancy (different dr) I was prescribed to take it as a suppository. Be glad that you are taking it orally! Both of my kids are totally healthy and the supplements did what they had to do. I was sure I'd need it again with my third pregnancy, but didn't.
