TTC After a Loss

Need Advice

Hi there,

I just joined the board because I am in need of advice. I miscarried in April at 10 weeks and went through alot with false hope and several ultrasounds.

Since then I have had one cycle and is now 51 days since then (my cycles have been 34-36 days apart but have been as long as 47). I have taken 3 tests and they have all been negative. My husband says just wait - he doesn't want me to go to the dr. because of all the run around we went through before.

Is it common to have this many days between cycles or is it worth having a blood test done? I have had some slight naususness and some slight cramps in the morning but no spotting.

We have been TTC for a year so maybe I'm just being hopeful.

Re: Need Advice

  • If you're asking us if we think you're pregnant, it's not going to go over well.

Cycles can be crazy wonky after a m/c. Do you chart? You can only truly know if AF is late if you chart and know when you ovulated.

If you really are concerned, please call your doctor. If you are pregnant, please go directly to Pregnant After a Loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I really have no advice but if you're really concerned, you should check with your doctor. Better safe than sorry.

  • I agree! It took me almost 8 full weeks for AF to come around. I feel like my cycle is off now, as I am now ovulating when I normally would. Check with your doctor! It's hard to be patient when you suspect a pregnancy. Sorry for your loss!

I actually have to disagree with this this time. She didn't ask if she was pregnant, just said she was hopeful after a loss. She asked a couple clear questions about what was normal for a cycle after a loss.

I know we get a lot of MUD here, but I honestly don't think this is it.

I agree. She even told us she had BFN's. Read the text before jumping to conclusions.

OP Cycles get  weird after miscarriages, some women take longer than other to get back to normal, and some women find that they get a new normal as well. Pregnaccy and loss is a traumatic event for the body and you hormones need time to recover. As previous people have said, 60 days is the norm for calling the doctor to see what options are next
