Weaning for good - WCM at bedtime question

We are down to one bedtime feeding. He doesn't nurse to sleep, it's just part of the routine. I don't think there's much milk left (there's some, I still feel letdown) and I have several occasions where I won't be there for bedtime, so I think it's time.

I like that it "tops him off" before bed, even if it's probably only a couple ounces. He's tiny, so he can use all the calories he can get. I am trying to decide if I should give him some WCM as part of his bedtime routine once I wean for good in the next week or so. He drinks from a straw cup, no bottles, so I don't think he'll lay there and drink/snuggle much at all. He tends to be a sipper and I have to offer it often for him to drink enough throughout the day.

So, just curious what others do? If you feed them some WCM before bed, do you use a bottle, sippy, straw, what? How much do they drink?

  • We use a sippy. Sometimes she drinks 4-6 oz and sometimes she won't drink any. It all depends on her mood and level of sleepiness.

  • We use a sippy before bed and snuggle. She usually drinks about 6 ozs of WCM.

  • We just went through this a week ago (down to before bed as part of routine) - we just started using a sippy (straw kind) cup with milk.  Previously I wasn't always good about brushing her teeth after that session, so we just started doing that after she drank what she wanted to.  It's gone surprisingly well (although I am a bit uncomfortable weaning).

  • We did the WCM in a bottle for about a week and then I started thinking why was I brushing her teeth just to give her sugary milk?  So we stopped the bottle and that is when we totally stopped all bottles and did sippy only. No night time feeding. I add flax to everything possible to make sure DD gets her calories. She is tiny, too.
