Whose kid hates the bath?

Mine does. Well, not the bath itself, but getting out of the bath. We have a small bathroom, and I get it nice and warm with a space heater and wrap her in a towel. I've started bringing her clothes and her diaper into the bathroom to get her dressed in there, even though there is nowhere to do it but on my lap. But she still starts crying as soon as we take her out of the tub and doesn't stop until her clothes are on. I always hope that this time will be the time she doesn't cry, but she always does. Tonight is bath night, and I am not looking forward to it. :(

She also hates changing clothes in general and starts crying about 80% of the time. Anyone else's kid?

  • yeah Rhett gets pretty pissed when he's getting toweled off after a shower. Going from warm to cold is like torture for him or something. I just do it as fast as possible. He's happy again by the time he's diapered and PJed.

  • Ryan does this too. He starts crying as soon as he gets out of the bath tub.  He screams and throws a fit when I lay him down on his changing table put his diaper and jammies on. I hate it, it makes me want to cry seeing him so upset.

  • Yes! Chloe loves the warm water but hates the after bath activities. In fact, she hates getting dressed and most diaper changes too- just being nude in general I guess?!

  • Brannon does the exact same thing. I just figured that its a part of it and he'll eventualy grow out of it like he did crying the whole time he was in the tub.

Thankfully J has stopped crying during diaper changes, but that happened for awhile too. ugh. I like being nude; I don't know what her problem is! lol

DD LOVES the bath, but is pissed when she gets out. I think because she LOVES being naked. She could be screaming her head off and if I strip her clothes and diaperoff, she's smiley and rolling around. Diaper on....repeat tantrum. This love a nudity will be cute for a while....and then totally inappropriate

  • I have the opposite, my kid loves being nude! When we get her undressed for bath (or just to change her) she is kicking and excited. She does hate getting her hair washed, she cries during the rinse part.

  • I was having this same problem until recently. What helps is that now when the bath is done, I keep him sitting in the tub while the water drains. I start to dry his head and upper body while he's still in the tub. Then I pull him out, wrap the towel around him and a fleece blanket on top of that.  He stopped fussing when I started to do that. He still gets whiny when I change his clothes though, I don't know what that's all about!

hmm, maybe we will try that tonight. Thanks for sharing!

  • Our hates taking a bath.  She screams like we're torturing her.  We've made sure the water isn't too too hot or anything else, still hates it.  I hope she outgrows this soon!

  • I tried the leaving her in as the bath drains, and it didn't help. In fact, now she's started crying when I flip her over to rinse her back. ugh.

Glad I don't have the only nudist. I even give her naked time in the morning. I fold a towel up thick and put it under her and just let her roll around. She loves it so much. Naked time ends when she pees on the towel, which is usually 20 minutes or so.
