I felt really weird today after I went in to work... I had eaten a good breakfast around 9 am, and went in to work at 12. It was kinda hot back in the pharmacy, but I had a fan blowing on me and wasn't too bad..
I started feeling dizzy and heavy, so I got a gatoraid and a muffin then sat down for 10 minutes to eat and drink that... It didn't help at all. I took my blood pressure, and it was fine as usual.
I couldn't sit around all day, so I went on trying to do my best.. a couple hours later I went on break and had a medium coca-cola with it. I drank most of it down before I even ate my food, and almost immediately felt better! I don't drink caffeine every day, so I don't think it was caffeine withdrawal... What on earth does Coke have that a gatoraid and muffin doesn't?? It's a miracle!
Re: Coca-Cola makes me feel better...
That's what it felt like (it happens to me occasionally, even non-pregnant)... but I can't understand why a gatoraid and muffin didn't work if that's what it was.. those have a ton of sugar!
A cold coke in a can is the best thing...ever. I drink about one a week more power to those mommies who steer clear of caffeine but goodness its delicious!
Not a technical answer but back in the day when I would go to theme parks and got sick from the roller coasters a cold Coke (or Pepsi) would always help me to feel a lot better so I do think there is something about it that does help with nausea. Gatorade really isn't all that good for you and something you don't want to drink unless you need to replenish because your dehydrated from activity or sickness.
I am the same way some days! I felt "off" and not great all day today. DH brought me a diet coke and all it took was about 4 oz and I feel great again. I don't know what it is.
Glad you are feeling better!
I cheat sometimes and I have coke.in the beginning I didn't at all but now sometimes I just have to have one I look at it as I don't drink coffee so sometimes I can have one.
When my suga goes low I get a little mean.
I would definatley say it was your sugar going low. Coke is a liquid form and will digest faster than say a muffin would. Plus the muffin is a complex carb meaning it needs to break down faster than the coke would. Gatoraid does have sugar but also electrolights (sp) but not as much as a coke would.
This has happened to be several times with no GD in sight. I've grown up with many people who have diabetes. One cure when my aunt would have low sugar is orange juice with a bit of sugar in it...it get's in your system much faster.
Try taking more frequent breaks at work and eating each time. It should help! ;P And glad to you know your feeling better! I can't have coke right now b/c of the caffeine...I haven't had it in about 8 months and each time I try I get an instant headache! ;(
