So I got the news today that there was no heartbeat at 7 weeks... Has anyone ever waited a couple weeks and seen a heart beat down the road? I don't want a D&C and I am starting to spot now so I am figuring I'm about to miscarry, but if I don't could waiting a few weeks and seeing if there be a heartbeat be too optimistic? Is there no reason hope, honestly? I'm still young young so if I need to let go, I will, but this is still my 1st baby.
What to do?
Re: Getting a heartbeat...
Same thing happened to me today. Very sad. My doctor told me there was a 50% chance. Was your baby measuring small too or right on target?
Usually the heartbeat starts beating around the 5-6 wk mark so I'd imagine by 7 weeks if there is no heartbeat there probably won't be one in the future;( I have heard though that with some u/s machines, it's harder to detect a heartbeat in the early stages of pregnancy. What did your doctor say?
So sorry you're going through this, big hugs to you;)

Yes, there is a website devoted to stories where the outcome was different, but having gone through this three times, I'd need to be honest in telling you that you should probably prepare yourself for the worst.
Unfortunately, time is really the only indicator in this. You can wait and get your blood draws and that might tell you where it's headed. I think that many of us found, for our own peace of mind that we needed to continue to wait and not move right into something like a D&C but you really have to do what's best for you.
I'm sorry you're in this boat we all didn't want a ride on and I wish you peace in this terribly difficult time.

COMPLETELY AGREE. Even though, for my situation, my baby's heart was not beating for any of my three ultrasounds, I can't tell you how much more at peace I feel knowing that I did everything possible to be absolutely SURE before I finally took the cytotec. If I had followed my doc's instructions to take the cytotec two days after our first u/s, I would have always blamed myself for possibly making the worst mistake ever. Though the outcome is not likely to be positive, I encourage you to get a followup u/s just to be absolutely sure.
ABSOLUTELY. I waited 2 weeks and though I wasn't very hopeful (it was measuring too small), I felt so much better knowing for SURE, instead of that maybe feeling.
