Lazy Eye

My baby had his 2 month check up yesterday.  Me and my DH noticed before the appointment that our son's right eye does not track things as well as his left.  Our doctor referred us to a specialist and told us that most likely the muscles in his right eye are a little lazy and he might have to wear a patch on his left until his right eye catches up.  Anyone else have expirence with this?  If so, how long did your LO have to wear the patch?  Did it fix the problem.  We have an appointment with the specialist next Wednesday and until then I am very anxious!

Riley is going to be a big brother to a little sister due April 19th!!!!

Re: Lazy Eye

  • Don't stress! My sister had this and they didn't do anything until she was a lot older.

The first step will be the patch and if that doesn't fix it then they will most likely try glasses with a prism to help move the eye and if all of that fails then they will do surgery (which my sister had). I also worked in an eye doctors office and can say that most cases were corrected with glasses :)

  • I have a lazy eye. But most of the time you can't tell unless I just got up or am really tired.
  • I have lazy eye that wasn't attempted to be corrected (which is should have been but that is another story...) but I also want to reassure you that even with it not being corrected its not a huge deal :) Most people can never tell with mine either and I just have a more severe astigmatism than most people with my level of nearsightedness.
