I am 9 weeks along, and everything is smelling so strong to me... and even if it's not necessarily a bad smell, it just smells STRONG and is setting me off. I can't open the fridge without all the mingling food smells making me gag, and our new furniture smells so strong I can barely stand to spend any time in that room. I have had to switch my shampoo/conditioner and my deodorant, and I can smell what we cooked for dinner last night lingering in the kitchen the next morning. This more than anything is what is setting off my nausea. Is anyone else experiencing this? This is my first pregnancy, so can anyone more experienced tell me if this will go away in the 2nd or 3rd trimester?? Any advice? Thank you!
Re: Too sensitive nose?
Yep, spidey-nose is a perfectly normal pregnancy symptom. I believe I've read it's connected to rising estrogen levels. I've had it with all 3 pregnancies, although it didn't kick in until very recently with this pregnancy.
It usually goes away in 2nd tri.

I have always had a strong sense of smell but it def is more intense now. This is my first so I can't speak of personal experience but my sister was sensitive to smells her entire pregnancy.
I really don't have any good advice except just breathe through your mouth if you are near something or somebody that stinks. The only other thing that I do that works is put something that smells good near my nose (like my sleeve) so that my nose picks up that smell instead
