STM's what diapers have you tried that you liked or didn't like and why? Especially if you have tried the bargain brands, did you have problems with your baby getting a rash?
What size did your baby use and for how long?

Honestly, it depends on the baby. We did okay with whatever, but some kids get rashes from the same diapers that I used no problem. The size and shape of your kid will effect the way different diapers fit. You really need to just kinda use trial and error in figuring it out. Similarly, length of time in any size varies greatly depending on your kid. I never went above a size 3 with S, and she has now been PTed for 6+ months. My friend's kid is currently in size 6's. It just depends.
Agreed. I kept V in Pampers Swaddlers (the sensitive ones) for as long as possible. She outgrew NBs and size 1s pretty quickly, but has stayed in 2s, 3s and 4s much longer. We use the Pamper's Cruiser's now, but she's randomly started showing an interest in potty training where there was none before, so I'm hoping we will be out of diapers soon.
ETA: DD has never had true diaper rash. She's had a yeast rash twice. The little girl down the street has the worst diaper rash I've ever seen, and she uses a cheaper brand, but I don't know that there's any correlation.
We were given huggies and pampers as shower gifts. I found the NB huggies leaked like a bugger with DS. Pampers were great, never a rash. I also tried the fisher price day/nights and they were good too. No rash. We didn't use huggies again until he was in size 5 and they seem to be fine for him since then. The Huggies and Pampers overnights are great for toddlers at nightime, much less leakage. We tried kirkland (used a few of my sisters) and they were pretty good, just found that there wasn't really much cost savings when compared to buying pampers on sale at walmart and using a coupon on top, so never bothered to buy a whole box of kirkland. We might try them when this peanut gets out of newborn size though and see.
As for sizing, babies grow really fast at first. My DS was 9lbs so we only used a couple of packs of newborn, a few large boxes of 1s and 2s. He spent the most time in sizes 4, 5 and 6, but you don't even need to think about those til baby is a year or maybe even 18m. If you get diapers as a shower gift, you can return unopened packages for exchange (brand/size) at walmart with no receipt, at least I have.

We used everything and had no issues. Of course, I had personal preferences, but as far as a reaction, DD never had one. We used Kirkland from Costco, Huggies, Target Brand, Pampers, Luvs, etc. DD only made it up to a size 3. We used size 1 and 2 mostly. Don't stock up on newborn.
As a side note, I stocked up on wipes as well and just bought the unscented ones which were fine. I didn't have to buy wipes for over a year.

We never had a problem with any diapers giving DS a rash.
With Huggies, he leaked every.single.time! It was horrible, we ended up getting rid of all the Huggies we were given at our shower. We use Luvs now and haven't had a problem since!
We've used Pampers Baby Dry sizes 1-3 and now Pampers Cruisers size 4. He's never gotten a diaper rash from the diapers. (Just from taking antibiotics - every.single.time.) We tried Huggies when he was a newborn but he leaked out of them.
We use Huggies Natural Care wipes. I feel like they're thicker than Pampers wipes. Thicker is important to me because I don't really like feeling poo. :P
Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers work best for us. Seems like we've spent most of our time in sizes 2 and 3. We disliked Huggies because they leaked, thought the baby powder smell of Luvs was too overwhelming. I really wanted to like the Target brand but when he wet them they smelled horrible ... Like really really bad from a far distance too, lol.
Agree with all PPs, depends on the baby. We used the Pampers Swaddlers for as long as we could, now we are on the Dry Max Pampers. We use Huggies every so often, especially if there is a sale or we have a coupon but I'm not a huge fan of how rough they are compared to Pampers, but thats just me I guess. As for wipes, I've used generic WalMart (Parent's Choice) Unscented and they are just fine
When I dont use cloth, we use Luvs. I hate the Walmart brand. My daughter got a rash soo bad it looked like someone had peeled her skin. I didnt know babies could have allergies too diapers, but she did. Our Dr said try a different one..went to Luvs and it was gone the next day. Skin allergies is why we ended up with cloth. It was way easier than having to rock her all night cause her little hiney hurt.
We are a Huggies family have been from day one with the NB. Tried the pampers swaddlers and Costco brands but they didn't fit her right.......we'll stick with Heggies with this one too
