DD is getting extremely frustrated. she tries so hard to sit up from laying but can't do it yet. she just flexes her stomach muscles & turns bright red trying to do it. is there a way to help teach her?
when they do learn- is it all stomach that gets them up or do they push up on their arms or something?
Re: is there a way to help teach how to sit up from laying?
My LO did this completely out of the blue one day as he was up on all fours trying to crawl. He just kind of leans to the side and into a sitting position. Don't know if that's the way most do it or not. He still can't get from laying on his back to sitting up.
DS was also getting frustrated and doing this whine sound all the time. He was very happy with crawling and sitting himself up for about a week, now he's moved on to whining about trying to cruise after he pulls himself up.
Lucas always did crunches until he realized it wasn't effective. He realized its a lean to the side and use your arms kid of thing. Maybe walk her through the motions? She will figure it out on her own either way. Once he got up from back laying he used the same idea for tummy. I wish it took him longer because night sleeping got 100 times worse because he'd sit up in his sleep and scream.
DS always rolls over, gets on all fours, and then leans to the side to sit.
I have seen him sit up from leaning back on a pillow---it was a struggle and I was rather impressed.
I'm not sure if there's anyway to teach her these things???
I've been setting DD on her butt and helping her balance. Now she can push herself up to a sitting position at random. (and yes they need to use their arms)
DD also figured this out within a week of crawling (not bragging, it was probably just a coincidence)

lol awesome. I need to get my dog on that stat!
OP, my LO is in the same position so I understand how frustrating it is for them... on the plus side, they're going to have six packs from all those sit-ups (haha) and are going to be very strong when they do figure it out!
