Ive been taking the Kroger brand prenatals because they're comparable to the expensive Stuart brand, but I JUST now realized theres no dha in it. I'm being paranoid thinking I hindered my child's brain development or something. I didn't take DhA in the beginning because they were all made from fish products. is it too late to take a vitamin with dha now or should I just continue taking the same ones? Thanks
Re: didn't take prenatals with dha
I'm sure your baby will be fine. No harm in adding the dha now though. I use target brand dha supplements (because my vitamin doesn't have DhA either). They are small, easy to swallow, and made with plant based dha.

If it makes you feel any better I'm horrible at remembering to take my vitamins at all, my doctor says there's really no harm unless you don't eat a somewhat nutritious diet, and even then everything would still probably be fine.

I'm sure your baby will be just fine. Look at it this way - I'm pretty sure a lot of our moms didn't even take prenatals, let alone ones with DHA.
The most important thing is to make sure you're eating a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit, veggies, whole grains and lean proteins. The vitamins are just supposed to be there to fill in the gaps.

This!!!
I second "this"! My OB told me herself that she did not take any prenatals with either of her two children and they turned out perfectly fine. She also said that I don't have to take prenatals if I don't want to (as long as I'm eating a healthy diet, which I am), so I don't.
Don't stress about it. If you can obtain a prenatal vitamin with DHA in it then do so. I didn't have vitamins with DHA during my first trimester, and began taking some during my second. My doctor said it was ok as long as I had it by my third trimester. Either way, just think of how many years women took prenatal vitamins without DHA. I wouldn't worry too much.
