Has anyone used this? I'm trying to figure out whether to buy these or 2 warm fleece outfits to get the babies through the winter. I live in New England and from October to about March it can be pretty cold. Thanks!
You'll have some people say that the Bundle Me isn't safe because it alters the carseat. That said, I got one and we used it for the freezing Iowa winter. I was glad I had it. I bundled DD up underneath it and if I thought she might be getting too hot (in the car after it warmed up, for instance), then I unzipped the BundleMe and took off the top "blanket" part.
I think the Bundle Me is like a pouch worn on the carseat, with one layer sitting between baby & seat and the other going on top of baby? If so, those aren't recommended as they are unsafe.
We have a very cold winter and we just dressed DS in warm clothes and put a cover on his carseat, it fit like a shower cap.

This is what we will be doing.
I had originally registered for one, but after doing some research I decided to go with the "cap" variety. They are recommended as a safer alternative. Most women on here say that just a warm outfit and blankets covering the baby are good enough.
Here is the link on why its not safe and how you 'fix' it to be safe (Which is what I'm doing - I loathe the shower cap toppers (I'm rare) - and think this will 'hold better' then a blanket)
I actually registered for it and already received it, but I think I'm going to return it. To be honest, I can tuck a fleece blanket around the baby during walks to and from the car, or outside on a chilly day. She'll have warm clothes and a snowsuit of some type for the winter. There are other things I'd rather put that $50 towards.
It was snowing/sleeting the day we brought DD home from the hospital, so the flap that completely covered her up was great to have, and kept her protected from the elements.

If you do the shower cap style for over the infant carseat it's a great item! The one that's like a sleeping bag with holes in the back is not for use in carseats as it could alter the safety of the seat (and will alter your warranty, so if your child was hurt because the seat failed you would have no recourse).
The sleeping bag-like ones are fantastic for strollers though! We lived in NYC for 5 years and it was the only way we could take the kids out in winter! If you do that one I would skip the infant size and get the toddler size.
I don't believe in the fact that Bundle me isn't safe. The logic of this is that if you have an car accident, the Bundle me will be squeeze making more room between your baby and the straps. But if you dress your baby in "snowsuit", same thing will happens... The cushion of the suit will be squeeze and it will be extra space between the baby and the straps...
For the cover like a cocoon, I don't believe it safe either because of the lack of the airflow... For example, it's not safe to have crib bumper or big blanket in a crib because it decrease the airflow... so how come the cocoon cover is better? they have no air flow at all....
Actually, a snowsuit shouldn't be used in a carseat for the exact same reason. At 3 and 5 my kids still never wear anything thicker than a fleece in the car because it could interfere with seatbelt/harness effectiveness.
The cocoon is better because you're only supposed to use it to get to and from the car or for short trips. If you're driving for a longer trip you'll want to open it because the baby will overheat.
Wearing no snowsuit or open the cocoon in a car may be something ok for a new york winter but not up here in canada where the temperature can reach -22 farenheint outdoors and it stays to -10 even if you are in a car with the heat set to maximum.
The problem with bulky snowsuits and bundle mes in the car seats is that baby can be easily ejected from the car seat. The bundle me creates a layer between baby and the seat and will void the warranty of your car seat if you are in any type of accident. You should never dress your child in more than a thin warm fleece snowsuit and then cover them with either a shower cap style

Horseshit.
Take off the jacket, buckle in your kid, turn the jacket around backwards. It's faster than trying to do up the jacket, and much easier to adjust the harness. And much much safer. I would still recommend you do this even if you lived in Iqualuit. My kids wear light weight polar fleece under their snow jackets, so they're not cold in the car, at all. Trust me on this one, I do have more experience. Takes me 5 whole minutes to have them all buckled in. 3 are in harnesses. Not one case of frostbite.
Compress ejection isn't a myth. Crash physics don't change at -22 (try celcius, it's colder). Or do I have to start posting crash videos again?
I highly recommend it. We loved it. I had a December baby in the Midwest (so also really cold temps). There's no back to this cover so it's safer and DS always stayed toasty warm.

Everywhere I read I saw this recommendation: you adjust the harness without the bundle me so the harness are very well adjust. Then, you put the bundle me. So the straps are in the same position and thus very safe.

In between, I wouldn't mind turn a jacket on a 2 years old but not for a 1 month baby. And by the way -22 farenheint it's -30 celcius......(so its not colder as you said it)

Yeah, didn't convert it right. But makes no difference to me beyond -15C.
And I used a shower cap cover on the infant car seat. Rated to -30C made by Baby Parka and I highly recommend it - no jacket needed underneath it. I was referring to the use of winter jackets and snowsuits in a car seat. But I only used an infant seat in the winter with my youngest, convertibles with the older kids. I still did the fleece jacket only in the convertibles, but I used a heavy blanket (similar to those Dara & Co blankets). Still no jackets. I just put them back on after we got out of the car.
Yes you do, and there's an opening for the face. My SIL is a ped and used one with both of her kids. My kids were born in summer so we had no need (they hated the infant seat, so were in convertible seats by winter anyway).

We used one with my DD last winter. We loved it. I am actually going to miss that next year when she isn't in her infant car seat any more...I am actually going to have to put a jacket on her!
After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011! 7lbs 13oz 20 inches long ">
We used one for DD when she was small. Loved it! As to the safety concerns, maybe I'm too lax but I think they're probably overstated. My friend's a firefighter, he installed our car seat and didn't have concerns about the BundleMe. Used one on his own son

I actually agree that the safety concerns are likely overstated. But, it still voids your warranty. If I had an accident and my kid had lifelong injuries because graco incorrectly made my seat I would hate to have something like the existence of a bundle-me in the seat prevent me from getting money to help care for serious injuries/a lifelong disability.
We used the car seat cover (shower cap style) with DD. It's nice because it keeps the rain/snow off their face, and you can add blankets underneath depending on the temp.

Exactly! The risks involved are just too much for me to take. Even if you were in a minor crash and had to replace the seat because of it Insurance normally would pay but if a bundle me, or other aftermarket product that interferes with the harness in any way, insurance wouldn't replace the seat. There are just way too many factors to risk it.
How a year can make such a difference! Formerly Ciaram22

I like the BundleMe for strollers, but the shower cap style is safer for carseats. JJ Cole makes one, and it's cheaper than their bundle me. https://www.amazon.com/JJ-Cole-Seat-Cover-Khaki/dp/B003ZUXQXU

I have a question: do you open a little bit the shower cap when in the car to allow air flow? I'm very obsessed with SIDS.
Thank you
