Help with baby poop stains

I can't seem to find a stain remover that works for baby poop blowouts. I have tried Shout, Spray and Wash, Tide, and Oxyclean (this worked better but the stains are still there). It is ruining all his outfits and there doesn't seem to be a way to keep from having them.

Any ideas?

  • I've had a lot of luck putting white items in the sun, the stains completely disappear! Not sure if it would work well on colors though.

  • I use Oxyclean and it works wonders.  I does not work that well if you just throw it in the wash. Instead, I pour it directly on the stain, then poor cold water over the oxyclean and rub it and until a paste forms over stain.  Then I let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes before I throw it in the wash.  Once washed - check the stain before you dry.  If still there, try it again and throw it in your next cycle.  Drying too soon will set the stain.  I have been able to get our every stain after doing it this way.  Good Luck!!

  • Dreft stain remover works well.  I did find formula poop much worse than breast milk poop though.

  • We run hot water over the stain to "break it up". Then we put detergent directly on the stain, rub it in, and soak in hot water. After letting it sit we rub out the stain, put the item in new water with a little detergent and had wash it again, then rinse a couple times. That almost always works. If it doesn't, Resolve Stain Stick.

  • After it's been washed, put it in the sun while its still wet.  If the clothes dry and and the stain is still there, re-wet it, and put it back in the sun.  Works for me!

  • I use cloth diapers, and it all comes down to how you wash - not necessarily the stain remover - this is how I deal with washing the breast milk poop:

     1. One Rinse Cycle

    2. One Sanitize cycle - HOT water

    3. Extra rinse

I've used Tide as well as special eco-friendly soap for the diapers - both work well and i've never had a stain problem!  I've never needed a special stain remover :)

  • We just spot treat right away in the bathroom sink with hot water and regular handsoap to break up the stain and then let it dry, toss it in the hamper, and wash with the next load of laundry. We have never had a problem with a stain not coming out that way....

This stick has saved more clothes then I can count!  We used it for DD1 as well and now on all of our clothes as well. We had some HUGE blowouts that should have ruined the clothes and this thing saved them. It is the first gift I buy any new mom!

  • I run it under cold water and rub in some detergent, let it sit until I'm ready to do a load of laundry, then run it as normal. The only stains that show up are the ones I don't catch first.

I just pour detergent over the stain and roll up the garment so it stays moist, then toss it in the next wash within a day or so. Works every time with minimal effort.
