Aug 1 the kids have their 1yr and 2yr appts.
That being said I was recently dx'd as being allergic to all tree nuts.
I know that me having a tree nut allergy doesn't make them more likely to be allergic to tree nuts but it makes them more likely to have an allergy.
That being said because tree nut is a common allergy would you bring it up to the pedi? I mean its not going to be at our house so the only place they would be exposed is somewhere else and that is the last place I want to discover and allergy like that.
Re: Would you bring it up to pedi?
When I was 4 I had an allergic reaction to cashews. I ate some developed a rash with hives.
I never ate another cashew but continued to eat all other tree nuts no problems that I noticed.
Sunday I ate a piece of cake with pecans in it and went into anaphylactic shock. It started off as just my mouth and throat itched but my airway began closing. I ended up in the ER for IV steroids and benadryl and I'm still on steroids.

That is scary. The max dose for Benedryl is 6 and that dose will keep anaphylaxis at bay until you can get to an ER. You should keep that many with you at all times. I had a similar experience with mangos. I though it was a peach because it was cut up; I thought I was going to die. Do you have an epi pen? If you have a sudden shock once, you may have another.
Many times it take 2 ( yes, TWO) epi pens to help someone in shock. If it turns out your kids have allergies, make sure they have 2 and that any care providers know that they should never wait to give the first one. The average time in schools before someone will give an epi pen is 45 minutes because teachers are overly cautious. When it come to allergies, better safe than sorry.
I have tons of food allergies, so if you have any questions PM me.
