Likes: corn on the cob, Ritz crackers, tofu, pasta, edamame, avocado, pancakes, bananas, watermelon, cantalope, pineapple, sweet potato
Dislikes: blueberries (wasnt interested), broccoli (I think I over-steamed it), rice (too small to pick up), honeydew (too slippery), pear (wasnt interested)
Question: I want to try yogurt, but since he obviously cant pick it up, do you guys spoon feed it to your LOs? Give them to spoon with yogurt on it to feed themselves?
We tried sweet potato on Saturday and she LOVED it - I feel kind of bad, because this was the first food that she seemed to be able to easily hold (have also tried banana and avocado, but they are so slippery, she really struggled). I'd been thinking she wasn't that into it, or wasn't ready, but I think it was just a slime issue. We also just tried peach in a mesh feeder and she seemed to really enjoy that too! Today is her 6 month check-up, so I plan to get a little more serious with the solids after that.
Dislikes: She wasn't too into her banana this morning, last week she loved it. I think her new tooth is bugging her as it comes in.
Comments: DD hasn't gagged on anything for over a week! She just chows does, has really started chewing and is just so happy when she gets the food!
I think I might freeze some yogurt and give her those this weekend. I'm also thinking I will spread some squash (I have mashed squash in the freezer) on toast and give her that soon too.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
So far I am feeding her one jar a day. When do I add a second meal? One jar is all I can get her to eat at once
Just as an FYI Im pretty sure those doing the BLW (baby led weaning) check-in arent doing jarred food, but rather we jumped right into finger foods. Wanted to give you the heads up in case you were wondering 'WTF they make jarred edamame?!'

Speaking of which...how did you serve the edamame? Your LO must have an awesome pincher grasp!

He just picked it up like how he does for string beans and sucked/nawed the soy beans out. I love watching him concentrate on trying to pick things up.

There is nothing wrong with spoon feeding yogurt even though you are doing BLW. Obviously it is a food that can't be eaten without a spoon, but it still is a great food for babies!

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
Likes: green beans, zucchini, banana, broccoli, watermelon, pickle
Dislikes: I think DD liked avocado but it's hard for her to hold on to.
Comments: She's starting to swallow things! She got some banana, broccoli, and watermelon all down over the last few days. Even when she's not swallowing she's getting it to her mouth and biting down/gnawing on it and then moving around the pieces in her mouth.

Likes: new likes this week are broccoli, carrots, teething biscuits, and what I call Baby Cheetos (the flavored rice snacks- they look like cheetos and I got the cheese flavored ones).
Dislikes: Still no interest in fruits- it's like he knows. He doesn't even try to pick it up!
Comments: What the heck is edamame? Anyway, he took quite a few big chunks but I was a good mama and didn't fish it out! He gagged it out eventually. Just starting to chew, still doesn't actually swallow much though. I feel like I had a question to ask you ladies, but I've forgotten what it is!

I rolled the avocado in baby oatmeal flakes and froze the slices for a an hour before giving them to her. It worked much better.

Likes: Everything. This kid loves to eat. Her absolute favorite are strawberries and cheerios.
Dislikes: Nothing so far.
Comments: The only problem we've had so far is that she is a food shover. She gets some in her mouth and then shoves more in, and more, and more until she gags and scares the begeezus out of me. Anyone else having this problem?
