Re: there should be a...

  • While I agree that all the same old questions get asked over and over...its an public forum where people can choose to post as they wish.  TB isnt going to do anything about people posting stupid questions...my advice would be, just dont read them.  This absolutely isnt meant to be snarky in anyway, just the way that the board works.

  • That wouldn't work, anybody can say yes.  What would happen if they did post something that was answered, how would that be handled?  I think a lot of people open it, but get tired of reading so they'd rather spend the time posting when it was probably answered the next paragraph from where they stopped reading.

I think there should be a button that says REJECT next to quote and reply and when a stupid post gets asked another person can click it.  When that happens, they'll get an email with the information to answer it along with a warning that their account will be deleted if they do it again.  And once an email is registered (after being verified by the user), it can not be registered again so that way they can't create 50 million profiles.

  • Not snarky in any way - I just needed to vent. Maybe it's my mood today - just feel it's the same questions over and over. I know for a fact that's never going to happen. It's more of a wouldn't it be nice...

  • What drives me especially nuts is the fact that the search at the bottom of the board doesn't work (at least for me)..... when I was on the Knot it worked just fine!  It was so nice to search within a board rather than do a google search of the whole collection of boards!

    ....... unless there's a trick I don't know about??

  • I'll play Devil's Advocate since this is my first day EVER posting and/or lurking on the boards.  These "stupid" questions are what these boards are for.  See scenario below:

    1. Girl just started TTC + thinks she might be pregnant

    2. Finds The Bump website and sees there's a board for Trying to get Pregnant

    3. Posts her situation, only to get ripped into from women who know all the ins and outs of fertility.

Maybe those who get so annoyed with these posters seeming ignorance should start a board titled "Trying to Get Pregnant and Knows Everything About It".  How is any girl new to the game supposed to know these things.  Yes, she might in a few months.  But these questions are most likely coming from women who had no REASON to know any of this UNTIL NOW.  That is the PURPOSE of these boards!  If they read the books and everything already they might not need them.  Instead of getting annoyed for them/us not having already read, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" (or whatever book...), maybe kindly recommend they do.  That's beneficial information and that's what makes these boards an awesome thing!  Helping out other women who need it :)

She's an idiot for not taking a pregnancy test if she thinks she is pregnant.

Agreed. I am a newbie, and while I'm sure I've asked questions that are roll your eyes stupid to some of the regulars, I've made an effort to do some research and ask for clarification. I'm stunned by the people who think anyone can tell if their symptoms that sound like a normal day to everyone are a pregnancy!

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Well yes, if you think you're pregnant and you are asking the boards rather than taking a test - you are an idiot.  But a lot of posters ARE taking tests and getting BFN, which is causing confusion for them.  A LOT of women get BFN's when they are actually pregnant.  Some women can be pregnant and NEVER see a positive test.
  • Why should you be required to do research BEFORE posting? Is that a rule of some kind?  Who says that wasn't the very next thing she was going to do? Maybe there would have been a kind person to help point her in the right direction to find her answers - which is what I think the purpose of these boards should be.  HELPFUL INFORMATION/SUPPORT!
  • So why don't you guys just not reply to their questions then?! Let someone else who might be more friendly, supportive, and actually give them the guidance they need? And these women are just stumbling upon these boards. They haven't been members for a year, with profile pictures and all that...I'm sure if people KNEW there was a newbie thing, they would read it. I just wish these boards were a little less mean to people who are just finding it and just wanted thoughts on a sincere question.  Rather then telling them (in so many words) they're an idiot and how could they NOT have read the newbie link before posting! How dare they!!!! What a waste of my time!!!! Now I have to tell them how ridiculous they are for asking!!!! (note sarcasm)

*points to green rectangle at top of the page and the line that reads: New to TTGP? Read this.* It's right there. And last year this time I certainly didn't know everything I know now but I didn't pepper the board with all my questions. I intro'd on various boards and lurked and learned.

     TTC since August 2011, Me = 40, DH = 38
Unexplained IF. Tried Clomid for 3 cycles. All BFNs. BFP 1/6/13. Chemical pregnancy.

Moving on to IVF#1. ER 11/26/13, 16 eggs retreived, 12 mature and all fertilized. 2 blasts transferred on 12/1. All other embies arrested so nothing left to freeze. Beta 12/10 = BFN. IVF #2 March 2014. BFP!!! TEAM BLUE!!!

I disagree.  I think the "Am I pregnant?" and CD1 posts are more annoying than they are entertaining.

There is some drama that I find entertaining, but those posts don't do it for me.
