So, my LO has taken to squealing really loudly when she gets excited or when she's bored and wants to do something new. My husband and I think it's hilarious and cute. We encourage it. She has only done it at home. I am going to my hometown for a week and staying with my best friend for a couple of days. I told her about it and she said, "have you talked to a doctor about that? that's is NOT okay." Her response seemed weird to me....what do you think?
Re: Squealing baby
She might have thought you were concerned about it. Squealing seems perfectly normal to me. It's just baby trying out those vocal chords.
My LO squeals a lot too- and REALLY LOUD! But, she's happy and just excited, so I can't imagine anything is wrong with that. I wouldn't worry. Just be glad its happy squealing and not fussy squealing.

Yep. I'd be concerned if my baby didn't squeal.
Yeah, I think there was a misunderstanding LOL
My DS is starting to squeal and I love it already! He's 3 months 1 week old (:
Does your bf not have children? Our LO just found what we called her 'screamy voice' last week. Now she does the high pitched scream/squeal when she's happy or excited. We try not to encourage it too much, sure it's cute at home, but it's less cute when trying to carry on a conversation with friends or when eating out with her. We tend to give her lots of smiles and attention when she's cooing, giggling, etc, but look slightly away from her when her squeals are at their most ear piercing.
Loud, high pitched squeals are really, really, really normal for infants. Universal, I'd say.
