Isla Marie was born 7/16/12 at 10:23 PM. 7 lbs 11 oz. 20 inches.
I was aiming for a med-free birth and ended up getting a shot of nubain during transition. It was intense! I was begging for an epi but it turned out that I was ready to push, so there was no time. I only pushed for 13 mintues and little Isla was here! Such a relief after pushing for three hours with my first. I did end up with a 2nd degree tear, but they tell me that it's from tearing in the same spot as my first delivery so it's hard to avoid. Recovery is going better this time.
Looking forward to reading more birth stories and seeing all the pictures! Here's Isla:
Re: Introducing... Isla Marie
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."
If you can, avoid the Demerol! It made me groggy but did not touch the contraction pain. I got the Nubain because I was already set on the epi and figured I would get the shot while I was waiting. I ended up delivering Isla 30 minutes after getting the shot and I was fighting off sleep while I had her on my chest and was trying to breastfeed. I'm a little sad about that since one of the benefits of a med-free birth is being so alert once the baby arrives.
Hope that helps!
ETA: Thank you for the "congrats!"
