and went to bed at 1 to get up at 6. Bad plan, but... did anyone else think that the baby was not going to make it ? Earlier in the movie there is a mention that midwife lost one (woman or baby?) a little while after they interviewed and I totally made an assumption. I cried for like 10 minutes before I realized it was going to be ok.
Re: Watched Pregnant in America last night
But I will say I wish I could move to Holland and have my baby in my home there with that Dr./Midwife guy who does 85% of all births at home...that's AWESOME!
Ditto. It felt, to me, like he set up that feeling on purpose, and I think it took away from their overall message.
I thought the same thing. I couldn't take the documentary seriously because I thought he was such a twatwaffle.
I haven't watched it since it came out, but I have a friend who knew the "dad" and I think he was the spearhead of the movie idea. It was confusing at the end, but if I remember correctly, they did feel going to the hospital was good, but that they were treated differently b/c they had a homebirth so they weren't sure if the doctors kept the baby longer b/c of that, right? I do also remember it being a little too sensationalized and wasn't sure it made the point about options to birth at home are good for low-risk situations so much as anti-hospital.
I think the reason they went to the hospital was a breathing issue, right?
...baby #3 is here...
