I keep hearing that things get better after 6 weeks... Not so much here. Connor has gotten fussier to the point that he barely has any awake happy baby times. I feel like a human pacifier because the only way to get him to calm down is to give him my boob. I'm starting to get anxious to go out because he is a time bomb and with all this boobjuicing, I feel like (sorry if this sounds stupid but it's a thought) I'm teaching him to eat for comfort...a problem in our family already. Ugh. Where's the light at the end of the tunnel?!?
Re: XP from 0-3: has it gotten worse for anyone?
Our first six weeks were hard (2 hours of fussing every night no matter what, always took 30+ min of fussing while I rocked, swaddled and shushed to get her down for a nap) and I felt like everything exploded at week 7. It was all that and worse, she wouldn't nap at all, and just like your LO, screamed unless my boob was in her mouth and we just sat like that for a couple hours every day. And then, magically, at 8 weeks it started to get better. I am thrilled to report that now at 10 weeks, she is basically fuss-free. I am SO HAPPY. I don't dread the evenings any more and now I actually leave the house without anticipating that she'll start screaming at any minute.
Obviously no one can guarantee that easier days are around the corner for you, but at that point they were for me.
I would definitely try a pacifier or another chew toy to see if he just wants to suck or chew but not actually eat. My LO started chewing on her hands a lot recently and will even chew on some toys if I put them in her mouth for her.
Have you tried leaving him with DH and leaving the house to see if your LO can be calmed without you there?
Have you mentioned it to your Pedi? It could be something else... like reflux... (a friend of mine had a really rough go with her LO for the first several months until they figured out that he had trouble with his bowels)... it might not hurt to have a good all-over check-up.
Since day 3. It helps at the very beginning of the fuss but doesnt stop it..just makes the beginning longer
