Where do buy your childrens clothing?

Where do you get your best bargains?  Looking toward school shopping and wondering where everyone gets the biggest bargain and cutest clothes.  TIA

Re: Where do buy your childrens clothing?

  • We usually do Old Navy... and the Gap (only the sale rack) and we usually try to buy for the next year.. although sizing is getting harder and harder

  • Target and Old Navy are the main places but we will also venture to Children's Place and Kohl's on occasion.  We have a decent amount of hand me down stuff thanks to my sisters who both have older girls so I never have to buy a ton so it helps.  I am looking forward to taking them shopping towards the end of Aug so they can both pick out a new outfit for the 1st day of school (starting kindergarten and PreK this year).

  • The bulk of their clothing is from Baby Gap and Gymboree....I shop the sales at both.
  • Target mostly; occassionally Old Navy, Kohls, Sears, Penny's or Gap.  I'm rarely at the mall and when I am, I am in and out, I'd never make it all the way in to go to Gymbore, Children's Place, etc.  I try to hit consignment/Goodwill every few months too and just stock up.

  • I buy most of my boys clothes at children's place, they always have good deals and always can find a coupon, sometimes gymboree also if I can find a good sale with a  coupon otherwise their way too expensive.
  • I shop at our local outlets. There is a Gymboree, Gap, Children's Place, Carter's and Oshkosh store there. I also do a lot of shopping at consignments sales and buy clearance items for the next year.

  • Mostly from the Children's Place. That's probably 90% of their clothes. Other stores would be Kohl's, Old Navy, Walmart/Target.

  • Old Navy and H&M. Old Navy has great sales throughout the year so that's when I go.

Carters/Osh Kosh also have great sales at the end of the season, that's when I shop there for our kids for the next year.

  • Right now I'm looking at LLBean.com. They've got a deal going on for $20 off $75, plus free shipping over $50.

Since I have two girls, I'm willing to spend more on what I know will last. The clothes I got DD1 from Target did not hold up well enough to be used by DD2, so I've stopped shopping there for clothes except for socks and accessories. Old Navy is hit or miss. Some of it (like their jeans) are awesome and last through two kids easily. Other stuff, like a dress I bought DD2 this summer, faded almost immediately.

I like shopping the sales at Hanna Andersson and Gap. I also go to our local Gymboree and Crazy 8 outlets. The HA clothes hold up beautifully, don't lose color or shape, and judging from how often DD1 wants to wear them, they're comfy. :) And if I can get a dress for $18 (very doable with their sales) and it lasts through two kids, I'd rather do that than end up buying two $9-12 dresses that have to be replaced.

I also like getting nightgowns from the Disney store. They have them on sale for $10 each every so often, which is a nice deal, and my girls love wearing nightgowns to bed.

I shop consignment as well. I got great deals on sweaters last year. Kids sweaters aren't cheap, and buying them used meant I got nice quality for less money.

  • Target - It's convenient.  I'm there every week.  I get most of their t-shirts and shorts there.

Old Navy - I buy a lot of long sleeve t-shirts there and socks.  I also get DS #1 pjs there.

Carter's - I really liked there sleep and plays when the boys were very little.  I don't like a lot of their toddler/preschooler clothes.  Stains don't seem to come out of them.  I still buy DS #2 footed pjs there.

Oshkosh - I get most of DS #2's pants here.

  • I get almost everything at Kohl's. I love their Jumping Beans line and it all coordinates, so I can buy 10 shirts, 10 pair of pants, and then mix and match all season long without regard for outfits, etc.

  • I usually hit up the outlets a few times a year and go to Gymboree, Gap, Carter's, and Osh Kosh.

If I order online, it's almost always Gymboree.  I wait until the pieces I like are under $10 each.  Shipping is always $5 if you spend $50, plus the Gymbucks deals are nice.

I sometimes get things at Old Navy or Target if I happen to be there and see something cute.

  • Land's End, Hanna Anderson, Target, Old Navy and Stride Rite.

  • Consignment, or huge baby sales (our local twin club has a huge sale every spring and fall and any members can sell their used baby stuff there).  I buy very little new, they outgrow it so quickly I don't see the need in spending so much for clothes that won't get worn much.

  • I usually shop at Old Navy, Target, Children's Place, and some Gymboree and Crazy 8. Just depends on the sales and any coupons I have. Plus my mom buys him a ton of clothes, usually at those places as well.

  • I get most of mine hand me down from my BFF, she has two girls as well that are 7 and 5. I do buy my girls some new things, but I only buy end of season clearance and tend to get them from TCP, Carters, Osh Kosh, LL Bean and Lands End. Since we are in FL we wear summer clothes from March through November, so I can get some great prices on summer clothes starting in August. I buy the next size up and use them next March through the summer. Same thing with winter clothes, we don't need a lot since the winters are milder, my BFF usually gives me like 20 pairs of jeans, so I just buy some new long sleeve shirts and dresses for church. I buy them in April on clearance for the next winter. Luckily my twins are in different sizes so even if I miss the size on the bigger one, the smaller twin can still wear it.

  • I get tons at consignment twice a year. Other than that, I mostly buy from Target, Old Navy, Kohls, Carter's, Costco (Carter's there), Gymboree on clearance, a few stores on FB and outlet mall (Gap Kids, Children's Place, Gymbo). DD mostly needs play clothes since she's in daycare, so I only get her a few nice outfits per season. They get ruined at dayare.

  • Usually Gap, Carter's, and Kohl's (Jumping Beans). I probably spend more than I should but try to shop the sales and not go overboard on quantity of items. Sometimes Gymboree or Target.

I always get jeans and winter outerwear from Gap if possible. In my experience, the jeans fit by far the best, are comfortable, and hold up great. The outerwear was the nicest quality I found and they had actual down filling for winter, which was very hard to find. The zip sweatshirts are also way nicer quality and heavier-duty than others.

The kids have also gotten Columbia fleece jackets on sale, with coupons for a great price at our local Bon-Ton store (Boston Store). They have held up super well to tons of wear and wash great.

    same here.

i keep saying that they could stop making baby/kid clothes and toys, and the stuff that already exists could suffice for quite some time.

  • I have boys and most clothing comes from Children's Place.  I'm on their e-mail list.  Once a month they have free shipping on a Monday and there is ALWAYS a 15-20% off code out there (retailmenot.com) and I only use it on stuff that has been marked down.  I usually spend $3-$5 for a shirt (big sizes, he's very tall). This is so simple and easy for me, so that's what I do.  IF I didn't do this......I would be looking Burlington Coat Factory or similar (we have a couple of stores like that here...) discount name brand stuff.  I no longer buy used clothing because my younger one will get the hand me downs and I can buy new clothes cheaper anyway.

Also, I'm silly....I like for my kids to have some clothes that no one else would have.  I actually shopped at Kmart when I was out of town because we don't have one here :-P

Target, Kohls, Gymboree, some Old Navy but their stuff is so hit or miss quality and fit wise.  For some reason I have never liked Children's Place.
