S/O bedtime...Lovey question

If your LO has a lovey (lovie?), do you leave it in the crib with them during the night?

LO has a A&A issie security blanket and we take it out after he falls asleep. He wakes a few times during the night and I can't help but wonder if I leave it in the crib with him maybe it will comfort him to stay/fall back asleep?

Even though its breathable, I'm still nervous about it :|

Re: S/O bedtime...Lovey question

  • Yes I do.  DS has the North American Bear Baby Flatopotomus - I wish I knew how to post a link.  (any advice would be appreciated).  Basically it's about 8" square with a hippo head.  I got a little nervous at first but I'm over it now.  He also uses it at daycare for naps.  He's not majorly attached but I do see him with it at times when I check on him throughout the night on the video monitor.

  • If DS is having a tough time falling asleep we will give him his lovey. It usually calms him down really well. We then go in and take it out of the crib after he has fallen asleep. I'm sure it would be fine if we left it in there but we go in to check on him anyway so we just take it out then.

  • E has two 'loveys' in the crib, and they stay there all night.  One is the A&A security blanket and the other is the musical seahorse.  He got really attached to the seahorse during sleep training and he loves that thing.  I do hear it go off randomly at night, so he is either using it to help soothe back to sleep, or he accidentally hits either.  Either way, I'm not really worried and he is only getting up once around 430am, so I am keeping the loveys!

  • DS sleeps with his lovey all night.  He rubs it on his face which seems to lull him to sleep.  It's very cute :)

Eli has an A&A blanket that he likes to suck on to go to sleep.  I leave it in there with him - I figure it's light enough.

Yes we have the issie too and I do leave it in the crib with him. It doesn't seem to comfort him in the least bit when he wakes up, lol.

Alex has a A&A security blanket since a month now and he sleeps much better with it! He snuggles right up to it, turns on his side and falls asleep. When he wakes up, he fiddles around with it and often falls back asleep. It's made for this and thin enough for sure. :-)

  • She has 2 lovies that we leave in her crib overnight.

The first is a homemade (but not by me) burp cloth; it's smaller than the Gerber burp cloths. I've purposefully tried to wrap it around her head, and I just don't see that it would be possible.
She rubs her face with it and instantly falls asleep.
Sleeps through the night too! 10ish hours
I'm hesitant to mess with that!!

The second is a Wubanub Soothie pacifier.

I've seen her interact with them plenty during the day that I'm not nervous about them at night.

C has a cow lovey that my grandma gave to her and she sucks on his hands and on the corners of the blanket. She rubs it on her face when she is sleeping and occasionally will sleep with it completely over her face. I move it off when it happens.

  • DD has a A&A security blanket, muscial seahorse, and 1-3 pacis that stay in the crib with her at night. I'm not sure she's actually attached to her blanket, but she chews on it when she wakes up and her teeth are bothering her.

  • DS has a small blanket/doggy lovey that SIL got him.  He's just starting to get attached to it so I actually asked her this last weekend where she ordered it from (it has his name embroidered on it) so I can buy a back-up!  I leave it in the crib along with an A&A blanket that he likes to roll up in.

  • DS has an A&A security blanket and we just started leaving it in with him a few weeks ago. His sleep has greatly improved in the last couple weeks too. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not.

  • Yep. DS has a blanket I knitted before he was born (loose knit) or a A+A blanket every night, along with a small teddy bear that he loves to cuddle with.

Hahahaha Michael does that all the time!  DH puts the pillow over his head if the light is cracking in or if there's too much noise so it's funny to see DS do it too.
