At some point you no longer want to touch their
Buttholes.
H is 3.5 today and has started demanding ointment on her bum after pooping. I don't want to do it so I am teaching her to do it herself but she insists I do it. I'm sure it a phase because of her sister but when she stands there and bends over with it up in the air I cringe a little. It is no longer a baby butthole.
That was my big revelation this weekend.

I'm getting to the point where I don't want to change Ella's poopy diaper anymore. She needs to start showing some sort of interest in potty training.
Eta: I giggled at "it is no longer a baby butthole"...
Being diaper free is so liberating! H wipes hreself at school, usually, but at home it is a big production. It just seems cleaner to wipe her than to have TP everywhere along with skid marks.
I completely agree.
We had a big problem with poo marks on panties for a while, but I bought her some cute panties and told her Hello Kitty didn't want to be covered in poo so she had to do a better job wiping.
haha!! I love that.
Maybe I should try this because Juliana is too old to be leaving marks in her panties and they aren't going to check behind her at school this year.

She did right at the end of my pregnancy. I got off the hook because I explained that the milk wasn't there yet. A few times after the baby came she acted like she was going to bite my boobs but it was in a devious way. If she had truly wanted to try I might have let her but with the way she was acting, terrorizing in general, I would have been afraid she would have actually bit me.
Oh and I had another excuse built in because she is allergic to dairy and I didn't cut it out right then. I also nursed past 2 and more than anything did not want to wean again. Luckily she has decided throwing fits while nursing is more entertaining than my breasts.
Yes I agree.. I don't like wiping DS's bum and usually get out of it because he poos first thing in the morning when DH is still here:) He always calls for Daddy:))) I wonder when I can start making him wipe his own bum? I think his arms are too short still...?!
Good point about the arms. I think she could reach now at 3.5 but she had to have a catheter last year for a UTI and it was traumatizing. She doesn't pat attention to front to back when wiping herself after #1 so I worry about poo making its way up front.
