Baby baby baby girl is here!!!!! (another long birth story)

Well I am officially a mommy and I am loving every minute of it! I went in Tuesday morning for a scheduled induction. They started my IV around 6:30. With my luck, they stuck the IV in a valve so after a LOT of painful poking prodding pinching and pushing the IV around, they decided to try a different spot. I thought the pain of that little experience was the worst pain I'd ever felt. Little did I know what was ahead of me though. Finally the IV was in! The doctor came in to check me and to my surprise I was at a 2 already! I told them it was weird that I was dilated when I've had ZERO contractions. The baby moved as usual and I said "ouch, it hurts when the baby moves, she's getting too big!!" this painful moving had been going on for weeks. the nurse looked at the monitor and said "honey that's a contraction" WHAT! THAT is a contraction?? It didn't feel like the BH I had months before and I didn't feel as if my whole uterus was tightened. I had 5 of those within the next 15 minutes or so. Needless to say I felt like an idiot! Dr came in and broke my water and hooked baby up to monitor via that head thingy. The nurses thought the dr hooked it up wrong because little one didn't sound great on it do they took it out and opted for the tummy monitor. Turns out baby had an irregular heartbeat. So the worry begins.  Contractions intensified but were absolutely bearable. They kept asking me if I wanted my epidural and I said no. I wanted to wait till I was a 5. They finally talked me in to it when I was a 3 although I didn't feel as if I needed it at all yet. Apparently they like to get the patients hooked up to the epidural before the contractions are too intense because it's hard to sit still when the contractions hurt. They were right! The second the man came in with the epi my contractions intensified. They were still bearable but I could see how it would make it hard if I had waited longer. Oh yes, a little note to those that didn't know this: it is very common to pee EVERYWHERE when they sit you up for the epidural. Literally, EVERYWHERE!! I had no idea if it was per or more of my water but they said its normal. (sorry, everyone's shoes, the chair, the whole floor) They put the epi in (yes, this did hurt. Not going to lie) and when injecting the "test medicine" (some form of adrenaline that goes straight to your heart) in to see if the epidural was in the right place we found out quickly it wasn't. I started shaking, convulsing really, and I couldn't say a word to save my life. Nausea took over my whole shaking body. This terrible painful feeling finally wore off. And so they removed that epidural and tried another one in another spot. OUCH! The test medicine took and I was good to go! Or so I thought! I couldn't feel any contractions in my stomach area but could still feel a lot of pressure in my pelvis area. The epidural just didn't make it to my nether regions. The nurse came in convinced I must be mistaken about being able to feel everything in my lady parts and she inserted the catheter. The second she touched down there I said "I can feel that" well she didn't think I had all feeling left and BOY DID I! She shoved the catheter in and the tears started rolling. It burned so bad. I couldn't move my legs because the pain was so bad. She said to wait it out it may get better when the epidural starts working. It didn't! It had to be the longest 5 minutes of my life. Absolutely terrible. She finally came in and took it out which hurt just as bad but I was glad. So we waited and waited, just waited on a baby! Couldn't feel contractions still in my stomach area so it wasn't tooo bad. Then she came back with another catheter. I said no ma'am! I still have 100% feeling. I'm not going through that again. I choose to just pee on myself. Well she made me. It didn't stay in long this time before she realized how bad it felt. They think I have a sensitivity to latex or something. Either way it was hell and the epidural still wasn't workingThe dr came in around lunch to check me. She said you're at a 4 but with my fingers I stretched it to a 5! Yay! Progress!! So she left to go back to her office across town. 20 min later I felt a lot of pressure and pain in my rear. I told the nurse my butt hurt and she said well let's check you. Surprise! I was a TEN! A TEN! Omg! She said well its time to start pushing! Holy cow was I nervous. This was really happening. I'm about to be a mom.An hour and a half later I heard my baby girl cry! The pushing wasn't bad until the last 30 minutes and if my epidural had worked I doubt it would have been bad. I could feel myself tearing. Yea. Lovely right?ouchy But my darling precious perfect baby arrived at 3:33 weighing in at 7 11 and 21.5 inches long with a perfect heartbeat! I hope none of you go through the little bumps in my labor road that I did but I you do, the second you see that baby it is all immediately worth it! Good luck moms to be!
