Where do you store all the stuffed animals?!

DD1 is almost 3 and DD2 is 18mo.  The amount of stuffed animals we have gotten in their lifetimes is incredible.  I try to get rid of some every now and then by donating them, etc. but DD1 really does seem to have some favorites.  They take up SO much room!  How do you store them when you're cleaning up?  Anyone have a brilliant idea?

  • We have a big canvas bin in DSs room that most of them fit in. There are a couple that he sleeps with that always stay on his bed. DD only has a few and they are small, so they sit in the cubby part of her night stand.

  • DD's favorites are the ones she sleeps with so those are on her bed.  There are others that she plays with that are in a storage bin in the family room.  Everything else goes into storage bins in our closets.

The 5 yr old has the toy net (he is not willing to give up his stuffs), but the 2 yr old has this:

  • First of all, I don't buy any, and most people who would give them gifts (close friends, family) know not to buy any more stuffed animals! They have plenty!

We have a rec room with a big wicker basket full of stuffed animals, and each kid has a basket in their room filled with animals.

  • I don't buy stuffed animals, and those that are given to him stand a chance to at one point be given away.

But as for storage, he has a shelf in his closet that is devoted to stuffed animals.  He has 3 shelves that are at this level for toys and the top on is animals.   When that top shelf gets full, i purge.  I know which ones he really likes, and which ones he never pays attention to. So its a pretty easy purge.

  • I have some in the mesh baskets, some in mesh bags that you can order online for balls, etc.  And I try to make sure they don't get them as gifts...we had a strict "no stuffed animal" rule when they were babies and we still have plenty.

  • I throw the small ones away...he thankfully only has a few and they're in a collapsible bin in his room.
