Hi ladies! I delivered my son via csection on 7/13 and was wondering how soon after did you have a B.M? I'm so uncomfortable and really need to have a B.M. I took a suppository earlier today and nothing has happened besides passing gas!
Please tell me your stories and suggestions. TIA!
Re: Bowel movement after C-Section.
I had my first bm 3 days after my section, I was given colace 2x a day to help things along as well as soften everything. I was sooo nervous to have a bm. I was afraid of straining and possibly ripping or tearing my incesion. When the time came I asked a nurse for a warm blanket. I used the blanket to kind of brace or as a stabilizer against my scar (over top of cothing of course!). The heat really helped as did having that support on my incesion.
Hoping this passes quickly for you!
Oh! Just thought I would add, even after the first bm it took some time to become regular again. For me the constitapation cleared up within a week after my first bm and I continued to take colace until this point.
It was 5 days after my 2nd c-section. I can't remember when I pooped after my first.
They started giving me colace in the hospital and I continued to take it at home for quite a while.
I was lucky to have one within 24 hours and was regular thereafter. I was given colace in the hospital, ate lots of fruit and veg, drank some coffee. GL.
ETA: I just had a thought. I had an emergency c/s about 2 hours after I had a big breakfast, so I had stuff that needed to pass. If you didn't eat for 12 hours before or whatever, it would take longer I would guess.

You NEED to take a stool softener. This last baby was my first Csection and I didn't know about the constipation stuff. They didn't give me anything in the hospital. I didn't go for 10 days!!!!!!!!!! By the time I needed to go it was so so so bad. I ended up having to do an enema, hemmoriods from the straining and even some tearing. I'm telling you it was a nightmare
Def do the stool softener and lots of juice..I'm a FTM and no one told me that the combo of surgery/pain meds could stop you up and no one at the hospital asked if I had gone or anything. It was 9 days for me and it was horrible. After that, I just made sure I had a glass or two of apple juice and I was fine.
