I'm not great at this- invite help?

I'm trying to write the copy for my son's dinosaur fourth birthday party. We are inviting the kids over to the house and I am planning to have a dinosaur egg hunt, Dino shaped pb&j, veggies and fruits, fruit juice and water, cupcakes, ice cream bar and candy. I feel like i need to come up with one more lunch food for their tummies (maybe pigs in a blanket?)- not sure what- do you think thats enough choices or? We could order the pizza for the party instead of the after party. We will be doing a few other activities but it isn't all totally nailed down. This is what I came up with:

Paleontologists welcome for Dino-Mite fun! A new dig site has been discovered, rich with dino fossils and eggs! Help us unearth the fun and celebrate Max's fourth birthday.

also I am using evite (ok not the classiest but they are close friends and I am running late on this) I changed the RSVP to yes-DinoMite! Or Ready to Rock, no- extinct, maybe- endangered. Does that even make sense? Should I just leave the default setting? Like or lame? Other ideas? What time is preferable for parents? I was thinking 11-1 fpr the kids party. Maybe 11.30-1.30 would help the family with a ways to drive. Ideas? Family And friends who want to stick around afterwards we will order piizza and break out the beer while the kids run around.

Re: I'm not great at this- invite help?

  • I think the food is fine.  We were at a party for DD's friend yesterday and they had:  Choice of hot dog or PP&J, two kinds of chips, veggie tray, and a fruit tray.  They had a bunch of different candy and then cupcakes too.

I think the wording of the evite is good.  Very clever! :)  Do you have lots of people coming from a far distance?  How far?  Really, I think either of those times are acceptable.

     Have fun!

  • Like I said, all paleontologists welcome :). We could potentially have pele coming from two hours away. Cousins and family friends. Other than that it will be locals, mostly good friends with kids and a couple of school invites. Dh is inviting his large group of college friends who are all married with kids (mostly grade school kiddos). I know that they will stay longer than two hours and I was feeling pressure to really entrain the kids the whole time which is why I am thinking I will sort of divide the parties- kids party for two hours then after that people can hang out and the kids can play playdate style but I'm not going to have four hours of crafts and games set out kwim?
