Baby Showers

What would you put in the bags?

https://blog.celebratethebigandsmall.com/2011/09/29/all-about-the-packaging-candy-button-punch-box-tutorial/

I saw this on Pinterest, and thought it would be a great idea for the shower (my mom put me in charge of the games and the prizes to go along with it). Since it is a baby shower, I don't know what to put in the bags. It would be for kids aged 8 to 14 (would you still make this then?).

My other games I have for the shower are the "how big is mommy's tummy?" and a canister filled with blue and green candies, and everyone guesses how many are in the canister.

I still have to think of the prizes for each game (I think for the candy one, I'll just say that the prize is the canister of candy).

Would having the punchbox game for the kids be too much?

Re: What would you put in the bags?

  • Confused- you're having a baby shower for 8-14 year olds? Or it's a regular shower, but you want games just for kids?  How would that work? 2 different rooms going on?

  • I'm amazed at the tummy game. I in no way shape fashion or form wanted to put a number on my growing stomach.

Are you sure you are not planning your own shower? You ask a lot of questions that make it sound like you are.

  • Candy is always easy and kids like that. Also, go to Michael's and look in the dollar bins. I'm a teacher and always find cool stuff for my treasure box there.

As for other game prizes, you could do soap from Bath&Body works or something edible.

I'd be careful as many people find games kind of dumb (sorry, but the truth).

The only game that's happening at my shower is Bingo, and its really only for the few little girls that will be attending the shower with their moms. I thought it would be nice to offer them something to do in case they get restless while I open gifts.

Yeah, I know about how dumb games can be lol. We're having a family shower, and there are going to be quite a few little kids, so I was kind of hoping for a "kidish" game for them. Thanks for your advice! I totally forgot about the dollar bin at Michael's! I might nix the whole punchbox game though, since it's quite a large project.

  • I don't  host showers that involve kids but if I did I wouldn't have anything special for them.  Most kids aged 8-14 are old enough to sit through a couple of hours of "boredom" or bring their hand-held video games.

As for "prizes" - I've started getting scratch off lottery tickets all the time now.  The guests really like them.

  • I would do a punchbox game on my hostess's face if she arranged a guess how big mommy's belly is game at my shower.
