hot bar at whole foods

I know we are supposed to stay away from salad bars because of listeria...what about the hot food bar?? Does that have the same risk factors?

    i think once a food is heated, like lunch meat its ok.. its when its cold that there is a chance of listeria

    I haven't been eating off the hot bar at WF because the one at my closest store is terrible, but if I really wanted something on it, I'd take it home and heat it up to steaming.

    no cold food bar??  You mean salads??  I know that you should stay away from cold cuts (meats) but I have stayed away from pasta salads etc??

    If you make it yourself or whatever it's fine. I think they are saying that bacteria could be present in cold food bars. You don't know who has touched what, put it where, etc. I never eat off cold food bars, even when not pregnant.

    I think anytime something sits around for a long time there's some risk. My WF has microwaves, too, so i'd probably just nuke it for 30 seconds or so after paying to be safe.

    Thank God! I've been craving salad and I've had Sweet Tomatoes twice in two weeks!
