DS recently has been spitting up out of his mouth and nose at the same time. It happens like once a day. Today it happened while he was in his carseat and we were walking him out to the car after brunch at my in-laws house. No big... we just walked him back into my in-laws house to clean him up. Well, usually he panics when he does this and then starts wailing because he's scared, but he didn't do that this time. All of a sudden I noticed he was turning blue and not breathing! He's completely okay now... we tried turning him on his side but that didn't help (that was my FIL's suggestion) but then we flipped him on his belly and I whacked his back and that got him breathing again.
One of the scariest moments of my life!!!!!!
The irony here is that this is the first (and hopefully last!) time this ever happened, and my SIL's boyfriend was there, who's a PARAMEDIC! It was the first time they (SIL and her boyfriend) met my son... so of all times for this to happen, I couldn't have asked for a better time! His take on the situation: "all babies do this". But thankfully if things had gotten worse, he was there to take over. But yikes! It's been 4 hours since this happened and I'm still a little freaked out!
Re: Baby turned blue :(
Terrifying!! My LO throws up out her nose too and I hate it. I'm always afraid to put her down after she eats.
I've also heard it's normal but I'm absolutely going to ask my Ped about it next week.
Glad you're LO is okay.

Yeah, I'm with you. Both girls would choke on my excess supply, but it's always been very clear that they're catching their breath. I would definitely talk to the doctor and make sure to get one of those Pulseox tests, if you didn't get one in the hospital.
