Getting in shape...

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and feel like I'm lacking in exercise. It's been about eight months since I was in good physical shape, exercising every day. I want to get in better shape for two reasons: 1, I don't want to gain a bunch of un-needed weight/fat. 2, I want my body to go through labor a lot better than I'm afraid it would at this point. Does anyone have any tips for helping me get back in shape this far along? Hubby has offered to go on walks with me every night. Is there anything else I can be doing? (Btw, I have an office job and am sitting for almost eight hours a day.)

  • Walking or swimming is ok, but don't start a new heavy routine this late.

  • I used Lindsey Brin's Pregnancy workout DVDs. She has 4 discs, one for each trimester and then a pp bootcamp to get you back into shape. All of the exercises are centered around what you may be experiencing in that trimester, like back pain and the like. There are also 3 levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced. I loved them. Her website is momsintofitness.com and I found her DVDs at Target.
