So, I never used to drink soda (pop-whatever you call it) before getting pregnant...
When I was pregnant I wanted it like crazy, but only root beer... two years later I still love the stuff.
But I'm trying to cut it out of my diet as I drink a can of it a day, and that's a lot of calories I don't need (and I don't like the diet).
I've tried putting flavor in my water and that doesn't help... I still want root beer!
How did you stop drinking soda if you drank it often?
I keep telling myself that at least it's only a can a day...It can be a lot worse I know.
Re: Soda
I used to be sooooo addicted to pop! Like NEVER DRANK ANYTHING ELSE sort of addicted. When I got pregnant I tried to just drink sprite and sometimes rootbeer instead of regular coke.
Recently I went on a big health kick because I was a slug and hated how I looked in clothes. To kick the habit I found other drinks that I liked just as much but weren't as bad for me. Green tea seemed to do the trick! I love love love it and now prefer it. I went cold turkey and it was hard but now months later I treat myself to a few cans here and there and it makes it taste so much better. I feel better too.
Fill your fridge with good alternatives that are still refreshing... lemonade was another favorite of mine or flavored waters, the Target brand is yummy.
Its not easy!!!!! Good luck!
I think tea is a good step. We brew a mix of regular and chai tea and keep it in a pitcher in the fridge. Some of the green bottled teas have sucralose (splenda) or high fructose corn syrup in them, so I'd avoid those.
I like to drink water with lemon with a drop of stevia. A local health food store sells stevia in a bottle with an eye dropper.

This is me...I love the carbonation so I have replaced my soda with LaCroix or Seagram's seltzer water.
I'm getting a kick out of those of you that call it "pop." My in-laws are from Boston and they call it "tonic."
I stopped as part of a health challenge at work. Part of it was giving up a bad habit and that was mine. I have one once in a while, but usually when we go out to eat or at a BBQ. We don't keep it in the house anymore.
