Crib transition my accident

My dd has never slept for more than 10 mins in her crib. Every time I would try and put her in it for  nap time she would wake up screaming. Tonight she fell asleep in my arms around 8pm and hubby and I decided to watch a movie together. I decided to put dd in her crib around 8:45pm and see what happens. I figured like usual she would probably wake up within a few minutes which was fine since she hadn't eaten since 5:30pm and was probably getting hungry. It has now been over 2 hours and she is still asleep! I really wasn't trying to transition her to her crib at this time but I guess she has decided she likes it! I am really hoping that this isn't a fluke because I go back to work this Wednesday and it would be nice if she was sleeping in her own room. I am honestly in shock that this is happening tonight, the past 2 nights she has only slept if I put her in bed with me. She no longer wanted to sleep in her rock n play and also would not sleep in her bassinet. I figured she wasn't feeling good (we all have been battling a cold) and just wanted to cuddle. Apparently she was just trying to tell me she was sick of the rock n play! I have decided to sleep on the couch tonight, our room is across the house from hers and I feel like I am not ready to be that far away and need to take baby steps. I'm hoping for a good night of sleep though and that this crib sleeping continues!

Re: Crib transition my accident

  • Congratulations! We have been working on transitioning to the crib for a few weeks, and some nights are easier than others. I find it helps a lot if he will tolerate being swaddled. I also have a video monitor (Motorola) hung on the wall right over his bed, so if I get nervous I can always tune in and see what he's doing. Of  course last night he would up wetting through his diaper, onesie, swaddleme, and sheet so he wound up back in our room. But for 5 blissful hours before that he slept in his own crib!
