Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one doing anything ~ very long

I'm gonna go ahead & apologize for the length of this! :)

There is a total of 6 people living in our house (don't worry - it's a big house lol!). Including 4 adults (roommates, DH & me), 1 kid (our roommates') & 1 baby (ours). Now I will mention that DH & the wife roommate both work full time jobs. I'm on maternity leave til September & the husband roommate is a SAHD (who sits around & watches TV & plays video games or reads all day).

And out of us 4 adults, I'm pretty much the only one who does the dishes & empties & changes the trash. DH is the one who takes out the trash. I just love how I can get all the dishes done & by that night the roommates have already filled the sink up. And if I don't do them (or if DH doesn't, which he rarely does) then they just sit there collecting nats, & in some cases, mold. Yeah, I know - gross. The other day the wife roommate did some - she washed about THREE bowls. That's it. And they're the ones who dirty up the most dishes. (& when it comes to doing the floors or anything else, they don't get done unless DH or I do them)

Then this morning, I got up at about 1:30am with DD. She ate & we fell back asleep at about 3am & woke up at about 6am. I fed her again. She went back to sleep so I went downstairs w/ the baby monitor. I boiled a pot full of bottles & nipples & washed the pot out. Plus did a drainer full of dishes & silverware. During this time I had got DD & brought her downstairs b/c she was crying & went back to sleep. Also during this time DH was up, got ready for work & left to be there at 7am. He came back realizing he wasn't due in til 10:30am.

So he asks if I would eat some cinnamon rolls if he made some. I said yes. So he preheat the oven, put them on the baking tray & went to the bathroom. The oven beeped, he was still in there, so I put them in & set the timer. He comes out (was in there for quite a while), sees that I put them in & goes out to smoke. The timer goes off & I take them out (if they waited on him they would have burnt) & put the icing on. All while taking care of DD.

.....He comes back in & says, "Wow, I've done so much already today & I still have 2 hours before I have to go to work!" I wanted to hit him. And I probably would have if he wouldn't have gave DD her 9am feeding! Oh & he says (since he got up so early) that when he gets home tonight (off at 7:30pm) he's going straight to bed. Plus he has tomorrow off & I'll be going to my mom's (taking DD with me so my mom can see her) so he won't have to, or will, do anything tomorrow either. Except play video games.

I feel like I need a reward or something! Lol!

  • Wow I'm sorry I'd loose it, I do most the chores around here but I'm a sahm and dh works full time so house work is my job. But dh does the mowing and helps with the kids a lot when he's home. What would happen if you asked your room mates for help??

  • Oh DH has talked to them numerous times about helping out. Then they'll do the dishes like twice & that's about it. I dunno if they think that since they pay rent every month that they don't have to clean up after themselves? Or maybe they think me or DH will do the dishes if they sit there long enough. I really don't have a clue!
  • I do all the cooking and chores around here as well. Doesnt bother me to much. For the roomates issue maybe they need a daily reminder from you. And start just washing your dishes and say you left the water in the sink for them to finish theirs
