My OB tells me I'll probably be scheduled for a c-section at 38 weeks. I had a vaginal delivery with my first, and I know there were so many things I wish I'd known about (like Tucks pads etc) to bring to the hospital.
Is there anything special I may need to take with me since I'm having a c-section?
I'll be taking my Boppy so LO won't be right on the incision. And I'm bringing a compression wrap someone recommended.
Re: Anything special for the hospital bag with c-sec?
We made sure to bring pillows from home. Not only do they make "sleeping" (and I put quotes around sleeping because you'll get very little between the nurses coing into the room every 2 hours at least) more comfortable, but also it was nice to have one or two placed behind my back to help me sit up, particularly when feeding DD.
Good luck!
I didn't bring anything other than the usual things they recommend for a vaginal birth. I didn't use any kind of nursing pillow at first b/c it hurt my incision. It was much better to just hold DD in a cradle position so that nothing would touch my abdomen.
GL!
Take pants that won't rub or be tight on your incision.
I also didn't use the Boppy much at first because it put pressure on my stomach - the football hold was more comfortable for awhile.
Nothing all that different is needed, really. If you're going to wear pants, just make sure the waistband is loose and can be worn either way above the incision or way below. I did use the Boppy and also a pillow from home for comfort. And I slept like a baby in the hospital, fwiw!
I'll be bringing my trusty Metamucil caplets to start taking in the hospital to avoid the first poo from hell like I had after my first c/s. It took a week and the pain was worse than the c/s. With my second c/s they gave me milk of magnesia shots in the hospital that (tmi alert) caused horrible diarrhea, which was just as bad as the week of constipation. This time I'm coming prepared!
