FIL rant

So DD and I visited FIL house yesterday because SIL and BF are in town for fam. reunion today!  Told them our DD is having a little sibling w/ a big sister tshirt.  She wore it for the day and when FIL got home he starts taking pics of DD and her cousin (same age so cute to see them together) FIL has fancy camera and loves  taking pics great usually.  Well i realize shirt is still on and ask everyone there please dont post any photos yet bc we havent told rest of family until tomorrow at reunion and still need to call many members of my family as well as a few good friends.  I made it super clear and he sort of hemmed and hawwed and was really adamant that this one photo he took was so good and you really couldnt see it.  Mind you on the tiny camera I could already read the word BIG and the top half of the word sister.  I asked what he thinks ppl will think the second word says.. and just tell him its a great pic but please wait a few days until we go fully public.  Well you can imagine my anger at seeing him post the photo today on facebook.  I was SEETHING!  I know it shouldnt be a huge deal but seriously I made it sooooo clear!  I call DH in a rage and he calls FIL and tells him he saw it and to please take it down.  FIL says oops glad you said that I totally forgot.  Maybe Im overreacting.. (credit to hormones) but I was still mad he acted like he forgot but i made such a big deal of it.  phew.. Just feels better to rant a bit...

    I would be mad too. My FIL also doesn't understand why we waited to tell people. He said that to me... I told him that if he can't keep a secret like this since we decide when we're ready to tell (not him) then next time he can find out when everyone else finds out instead of when we get our BFP. Some people get so excited they forget about why we wait awhile to tell people. It's our news to share not anyone else's.

    Part 2 to my rant is that we told other SIL on her bday a few days before FIL and I think she accidentally told FIL. Bc the night we told them we had them over for diner and SIL calls on the phone and FIL loudly says to SIL on the phone.  "I played it off"  So i look at him and say you already knew and he just gives me this really awkward uh what huh ummm.. no thats not what I was saying.. I was really mad.. not even at SIL if she made a mistake fine.. but seriously bragging you played it off in front of the ppl you were faking it too.. so annoying..

    I've noticed that people get butt hurt if you ask them to not post a pic on fb.... I am guilty of this myself.   however I totally understand both of your rants... very annoying for you.

    As long as he took it down, I'd let it go - not worth it!  He's probably just excited - can't fault him too much for that!

    Totally justified in feeling upset!  How dare he rob you of the experience of telling friends and family yourself... in your own way!  Sorry!!

    Wow, that's pretty rude!  I can't believe he went against your wishes like that when you specifically asked him not to (and had a good reason!).  It's not at all right that he couldn't wait a little while to post the pics like you asked.  Ugh... Facebook.

    you have every right to be mad!  hormones or not....i would be just as mad!  we are making it clear as we tell people that nothing can go onto facebook.  most people are respectful.  honestly, my side is pretty great and understanding.  i'm a little worried about his side though, they don't seem to understand.  i did make it very clear to dh though, that if something does show up on facebook i WILL NOT be nice about it at all (especially since they're being told ahead of time).  so he better make sure they keep it off.  i have no problem being the bad guy.  he knows i'm serious.  so far so good.  my goal is to keep it off of facebook until late august/early sept.  i want to let work know before it's out there on fb.  i'm a teacher, so i won't be going back until then.

    Ugh.  So annoying.  IL's!  I will admit I am not the best at handling stuff like this but whenever my IL do something that annoy me I keep my distance.  If they can't respect me then they don't get to know what is going on with me.  This is why I am in my 2nd tri and we still haven't told my IL's and won't until after the 18w u/s.  Lucky for me they live overseas!

    Thanks everyone!  He did take it off and then he photoshopped the tshirt to not say anything haha.. it made me giggle a bit.. We finally told the last of our families and now that we're 13 weeks we're letting it fly we're going to make the announcement today I think!  :-)
