Jessica Simpson's First WW Check In

I LOVE Jessica and I think she is one of the most naturally beautiful girls in Hollywood...but I just read on UsMagazine.com that she gained 70 LBS. Surprise

I was feeling a little heftly this morning when I got on the scale and saw I have now gained just about 20. Now I feel better.

Butter covered pop tart, anyone?

  • Hellz yes, this makes the 23lbs I've gained seem like nothing in comparison.  I <3 Jessica Simpson though too! :-)

  • I wonder if women back in the day gained as much weight as we do? My grandmother had 13 kids and she didn't get "big" until she was like, 70.

I thought Jessica looked great and obviously she had a big baby. I wish people would not have made such a big deal over her weight as they did. I didn't think it was fair. But I also don't think it's fair for her to "have" to lose 30 pounds in three months. I think that's the agreement, right?

My Mom gained 70 pounds with me, and 55 with my brother.  I gained 48 with my DD, and am on tracj to gain about 40 this time.  I think it has more to do with your body type and genetics than anything else.

She is getting paid 4 MILLION DOLLARS to lose 30 lbs. I think anyone could handle losing 30 for that much money.

Exactly. She is being PAID to lose that weight. I wouldn't call that unfair.

  • She was probably pretty underweight to begin with and baby was enormous. I agree with the posters who said it is genetics how you carry and how much you gain. I'm glad she has chosen a healthy weight loss system to promote instead of diet pills or slim fast. She's on her way to fabulous and healthy again soon!

  • Obviously, it is her body- but we all know that 70 lbs is not healthy for her during the pregnancy and after.  Imagine the emotional battle she is now dealing with (for indulging)  that is taking up the precious moments she should be able to share with her infant.......

I agree- from experience- EVERY pregnancy is different for every person.  But come on, 70 lbs!!!!

  • She irritates me sometimes but I do have to say that I love how she is who she is and doesn't try to change herself. And 70 pounds makes me feel better about my weight gain!

Honestly, I don't think so. When I was pregnant with my first, my grandmother told me that she never gained more than 12 lbs pregnant and had perfectly normal-sized babies - except for one preemie. She thought that women now are lazy and used it as an excuse to pack on weight. I think lifestyles are just different now.

I totally agree. She was big but she's also a really small girl. I gained about 60lbs with my first but I'm a couple inches taller than Jessica so I didn't look as big as her. Honestly, I really like to see celebs pack on some weight while they're pregnant. Makes them seem more real.

  • maybe it's just me, but a butter covered poptart sounds disgusting!  Butter does't really go with the sweet goodness of the icing!
