DH and I did not have this problem with DS. I am due to go in for a
C-Section on Wednesday and we can not choose between three names. People
say"Oh you will know when you see her." 1. Really, how true is that?
Can someone answer this if you have this or did you just have to debate
until the hsopital staff made you sign? I know I have been
overthinking each name and afraid I have muddied my own waters. I am
scared I will be holding her and looking at her and still not know or
pick a name and regret it a few days later ... One of DH's
qualifications is flow. We are not sure how we feel about popularity
because we have been told you have to love the name first. Here are our
choices" Frances is in honor of his deceased parents but might change if
use Rebecca. DS middle name is Francis so the connection would be nice.WE HAVE AN ITALIAN LAST NAME ENDING IN I
Elizabeth
Frances - classic and timeless like many things I buy in clothes
and furniture. Afraid first name will never get used because of all the
nicknames and length of names.
Rebecca (Frances or Elizabeth as MN) - Not sure if I like Becky but like Becca as NN. A classic , pretty, not sure if timeless, and not overused name.
Isabella Frances - love the flow, pretty, not sure if a classic or trendy - that is the issue. Not crazy about Izzy for NN - love Bella and on the fence with popularity.
Olivia Frances - like NN Livvy, classic right but how popular?
Re: Help ... last minute debate
For every 3 people you ask, you are probably going to get three different opinions. Here is my take: I like Rebecca. I don't really like NN with Rebecca though. I happen to know a Rebecca who goes by the full name, so you don't have to do the NN thing. My name is long (Amanda) and I never went by a NN.
I also like Elizabeth. I think the much of that I said for Rebecca applies. I also like the NN better for Elizabeth than I do Rebecca.
In principle, I like Isabella, but it's popularity is a turn off to me. I am also really not a fan of Bella as a NN, but then I really hate that character in Twilight.
I also have not finalized our name situation, and am hoping we can finally decide once we see our little guy.

Don't stress about it. When you see her you WILL know. Maybe not instantly, but within a few days her personality will shine through and you will know who she is and what her name should be.
My older sister had picked out the name Ben for her second son. He arrived a few days before his scheduled c/s and when he was handed to her for the first time, she had doubts that he was a really a Benjamin. It took a few days, but during those hours, she came to realize, he was not infact a Ben, but he was a Jackson (Jack) through and through.
Knowing Jack as I know him today and a wild, risktaking, fun loving, joker of 10 years old, he could never be anything other than a Jack. His name suits him perfectly.
On the other hand, DH and I decided our first was going to be Carter Lance. From moments after the a/s we began referring to him as Carter. When he was born and I looked at that beautiful face for the first time, I knew we had chosen the perfect name for him. We didn't have a backup plan like you do, so it would likely have been days before he was named if Carter didn't suit.
I know it's hard to trust that you will know when you see your precious daughter, but you WILL. Trust your instincts and go with your gut when you meet your baby girl.
Can I just put in that I HATE the name Rebecca. Ugh. Sorry, I know someone by that name and she is not a good person.
Elizabeth I love and people can always call her Liz or Lizzy or Beth for short.
Isabella is very pretty but way too popular these days.
I like Olivia too. So my choices are Elizabeth first, then Olivia.
