March 2012 Moms

please help! ? 4MWP???

my daughter is 4 months, for the last few nights she has been waking :( she normally went down at 9 and slept until 5ish, had a bottle, and back to bed. the last few nights have been allllll over the place with going down at 730 or even 7, up at 12, 2, 4, and so on. last night i couldnt soothe her and fed her at 12 and 4 :( (5 oz bottles of breast milk i might add,and brought into bed with me at 6 so i could close my eyes for a bit and of course she sleeps like a champ.

if she feeds every two hours today that is like 40 0z breastmilk!!!)

is this the 4 month wakeful or a growth spurt??? pleeeeease tell me this is going to pass, i am exhausted :(

  • Sure sounds like it. Adele is going through this now.  I am hoping it passes quickly.

  • DD has been doing the same thing. Usually I can rub her heard and put the pacifier in and she will go back to sleep but not always. Any clue how long this lasts?

  • Claire has started this. She has been sleeping all night since she was 12 weeks... so I guess im getting pay back. I hope she starts sleeping again before I have my surgery. Im walking around like a zombie and ive only been home from the hospital for 2 days :(. DH better get ready bc tonight he is by himself.

  • We've been dealing with this for the past 2 weeks and it seems to be improving-- at least the night sleep. For some reason, though, naps are no longer cool and he will keep himself up until he's insane. I miss the baby that I had a few weeks ago that only required a pacifier, a blanket and a kiss to go down for a nap.

  • Oh no!  I hope this won't happen to DS since he is already 5 months old now.  That sounds so exhausting, and I sure hope you all get some good rest soon.

  • I have noticed her waking up a bit more too, but it isn't a big deal because she wasn't sttn to begin with.  She is waking a few more times than usual and I just have to put the pacifier back in and she usually falls back to sleep.  She is also waking up for the day earlier too.  That is what exhausts me - having to wake up when I still feel like sleeping, but she is wide eyed and ready to go for the day.  Also, napping has been sucking lately too :(

  • My son went thru that phase a couple weeks ago. he wouldnt nap, cried for as long as i tried to soothe him. rocking, singing, shhh-ing, nothing worked. sometimes id get lucky and hed sleep in his swing. it lasted maybe six days then he was back to his normal soothe to sleep himself. good luck and keep trying whatever works!!
