HELP!! Low Beta and Progesterone?

I went to get my first Beta done on 7-10-11 and my score came back at a 13 :( Not completely horrible since it is above a 5 but she said that I more than likely conceived after I thought I did. ( I Had 2 positive ovulation dates) So I had to get another Beta on 7-12-11 and that one came back at an 18 :/ not the best but it did go up. She said that makes them think that it's just really early but I'm not out of the woods for the possibility of a MC just yet :( So they are putting me on Progesterone. Has anyone one had this problem or gone through this before? I have been praying a lot and I feel ok in my spirit but some good stories would be nice to hear!! On a side note what are you craving today?? :) Best of luck to everyone here!!

Was your progesterone actually low?  Progesterone can't help your beta #s, which should be doubling every 48-72 hrs regardless of how early in the pregnancy it is.  I hope you get better news for your next beta!

I agree. It sounds like you could either have a chemical pregnancy or a slow starter. I hope your next beta is better.

Was your progesterone level 13 or was your HCG 13? Often they'll measure both for the first beta (although beta refers to beta HCG and not progesterone), and if your progesterone is low, your doctor might have ordered it taken with the second beta, as well. That would explain why she put you on progesterone, anyway.

This is generally true, but not always. Betas can do really funny things. Here is a thread of hope for you OP. This woman had horrible betas to start, which she lists. She is having her NT Scan today. https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/66773198.aspx

Sorry let me clarify, my HCG level was 13 and the nurse told me that my Progesterone was low ( she never told me a number) So after the second Beta and low Progesterone she gave me the progesterone suppository. I just got those today and started them this morning and I am on them 2x a day. I have another appt for a Beta on Monday to check my levels.

Hang in there!!!  How far along are you?

I first had my levels checked at 5w5d.  Both my hcg and my progesterone were in the normal range but lower than most.  My progesterone was 19 at the time and I forget what my hcg level was.  I had them redrawn a few days later and my hcg was up but my progesterone dropped to 12.  Multiple times I was told I probably was going to M/C.  I was devastated.  They started me on an oral progesterone supplement.  I was unhappy with the care I received at this office so I switched to another doctor.

She told me not to worry too much and the levels fluctuate.  They did an ultrasound (I was 9 weeks at this point) and everything was fine!!!!  She told me to stop taking the supplement.

Hang in there!!!!!!  Your levels will fluctuate so don't put all your stock in the numbers.  I will keep you in my thoughts!!

Wait those numbers are your betas or your progesterone level.

Progesterone will decrease the chance of miscarriage but only if you would miscarry because of low progesterone
