There is a lot of info on kellymom.com about getting a bottle-fed baby to latch.
Definitely see an LC, as soon as possible. Good luck!
I agree with PP. Our baby was rejecting the breast for the bottle (I was pumping to up my supply) and I thought he had nipple confusion. We saw a lactation-specialized dr. and she weighed him before and after BF-- he couldn't get hardly anything from the boob so that's why he was so frustrated and only wanted the bottle. The doc gave me a nipple shield and some coaching to latch him better and his nursing is improving everyday.
Hang in there and keep pumping until you can see the LC to keep up your supply. My doc recommended pumping 6x every 24 hours for 10 min each side. Good luck!
didnt read the other posts- sorry. But i had supply issues with DS#1 and had to formula feed some, and after a while he didnt want to BF. Tips that helped me (recommended by an LC)
- use a wide mouth bottle to bottle feed, that helps the latch from getting lazy
- once your milk is in good supply, then take one feeding and only offer the breast, if DS refused fine, a few minutes later when he was hungry again, offer the breast, and repeat. Eventually they do learn how to latch.
- also once latched, doing the cross cradle hold and massaging/compressing the breast will help the milk come out faster and keep them sucking since its right there. (you wont have to do this forever)
- also if you have a slower let down, then either pump or hand express until your let down starts.
It took a couple wks but e were able to get rid of bottles and continued to BF for over a year. The earlier you start working on getting him back on the breast the easier it will be
