Tips for Being Outdoors in the Heat?

We have plans to go to a baseball game Sunday afternoon and tailgate before the game.  During the game, we will have seats where there is AC...so I'm not worried about the stadium.  This high for Sunday is 96.  Any tips for tailgating in high heat with an almost 1 year old?  Thanks!

  • Make sure to keep applying sunblock all over including the head if you LO doesnt wear hats. Also try to stay under some kind of shade. The heat shouldn't be too much of an issue but the sun will be and you'll be loads cooler under some kind of cover. We usually set up one of those big portable canopy tent things with some chairs and a playpen for DS and it works great. Make sure to keep hydrated so bring plenty of coolers with ice and water.

Thank you!  I didn't even think of bringing her play pen.  We don't have a large canopy, but I'm wondering if I can figure out a way to "tent" the pack and play.

  • Invest in a beach umbrella.  It has come in handy for us at soccer games, parks etc. and its light and easy to set up. It will provide enough shade for the play pen or you and her in a chair.
