Anyone else introducing the potty? I've been signing Potty and putting LO on the toilet for a while. Sometimes it works!

I put out her potty about 8 weeks ago and will sit her on it before bath and in the morning. I'm def. taking a casual approach to it all, but I just thought- well, if she can sign for More, All Done, Washing, etc, then why not Potty? And a several times in the last few weeks I've just dressed her in BabyLegs and a shirt so she could be more aware of her body signals. (yes I have hardwood floors and tile- LOL). 3 mornings ago I noticed her looking at me strangely and I said- Potty (sign also), and off to the bathroom she crawled. And the last 3 days she's had her morning constitution in her own potty. WHOOT! Seriously- it make not "stick" yet, but that's Three Whole Dirty Diapers I didn't have to change. But it adds another toilet to clean and I'm A-OKAY with that.
Re: Signing & Potty training (just a share)
He knows what the toilet is for and I will sit him on it if I think he needs to go. He has only pooped once in it. If he sees me or DH going we will flush the toilet and he waves good-bye. He has started tugging at his diaper when he has to go, so I know he is becoming more aware. Like yourself, we are taking a very laid back approach to it and have been slowing introducing him to the potty over the past several months.
May I ask what sign you are using for potty? I tried to think of one the other day and everything I thought of seemed a bit strange or slightly inappropriate
Haha, these were my thoughts as well! We started a few days ago with sitting her on the toilet at specific times of the day and with signing potty. She's gone a few times and I caught a poop yesterday :-)
When we get back from a little out of town trip the last weekend in July we are going to spend a weekend naked (well, Chloe anyways) and really make her aware. Wish us luck!
EDIT: to add that we use the ASL sign for potty which is the letter T (fist with thumb between first two fingers) using right hand and shaking it back and forth.
**SittingOnAMtnTop** I use the same one JenniC uses. I also take her hand and make the sign. The waving bye-bye made me LOL!
**Jenni** Catching a Poop should be an app!
(on second thought-- ewwww, no) and fair warning-- when you have your nakey weekend- be damn sure all the small things are off the floor or the next thing you know, LO is crawling off with something stuck to it. bahahaha!
We're about here right now too. I take LO potty when he wakes up, before he goes to sleep, after any liquids are consumed, and anytime he "asks." Asking today involved crawling to me, saying up, and then pointing to the potty like a madman.
For the past two days, he has been naked. At first, it was insanely messy, but he is definitely improving. I am not aiming to pt now, just raise awareness. We are probably moving toward trainers when we are home and diapers out in the world.
I also just bought a Fisher Price travel potty for like $13 at BRU, and love love love it. It was a pain to have to take him when we were out and about, and now it's a breeze. He's a very happy guy.
