I plan on getting just 1 tension gate, and moving it wherever I need it for the moment. Our bedroom is the only thing on the 2nd story. So if I'm up there I'll bring it with me. The stairs to it have a door at the bottom, so no need for one there. I'll also use it in between the living room and kitchen, to keep LO in the living room while I'm cooking. It really depends on how your house is laid (layed? I never can remember that one) out. We have a tiny house- LR, Eat-in Kitchen, Bathroom & Bedrooms w/doors.
Top and bottom of the stairs, in the kitchen to keep her out of the cat food, and in the master bathroom to keep her away from the litter boxes. The top of the stairs gate is the only one installed in the wall, the rest are all tension gates.
I guess I'll just start at the top and bottoms of stairs. LO's room is on the 2nd floor, as is the master but the 3rd floor is a finished attic that is our "family room" and LO's play room
