What pregnancy "I'll never's" have you broke?

I was sitting back this morning eating a breakfast of Chips Ahoy and milk and thought to myself...this was definitely on my I'll never do that list. I always told myself that I would be super healthy, not eat junk, etc. I've learned that everything in moderation is key and sometimes...there is just nothing else that can satisfy me like a cookie or ice cream or candy!

I have found myself apologizing to my sister for giving her the side eye when she was pregnant and carrying around her soda and doughnut. Now, I understand.

What about you guys? What are some things that you told yourself you wouldn't do when you were pregnant that you now do.

Re: What pregnancy "I'll never's" have you broke?

  • Caffinated soda and deli meat.

Who was I kidding saying that I wouldn't touch that stuff during my pregnancy?

I have a soda a day, and at least 2 subs a week.... lol

  • I thought I wouldn't be such a lazy bum.  I thought I'd be working out through my pregnancy.  Haha, yeah right!
  • Cookie dough.  During my pregnancy with DS I was super uptight about what I ate (I'd had 2 m/cs before him) and that was absolutely on my no-no list.  I've had it about 10 times this time and don't even feel bad about it.

  • None this time. I learned the first time around that moderation is the key.  My first pregnancy I thought I would never drink diet pop daily and that I would never have alcohol.  While I never went crazy I had a diet coke almost everyday towards the end and a few glasses of wine in my third trimester.

  • I said I wouldn't stop going to the gym. That went out the window with my 1st tri exhaustion and I haven't gone back since.

I've done some walking/yoga since then but nothing like my pre-pregnancy workouts.

    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • I'm on this exercise train.  I was working hard to try to be sure I was in good enough shape that I could continue a mild/moderate workout during pregnancy.  Once I got pregnant that train left the station.  I walk or swim occasionally, but not as much as I should be.

This is a good one. I teach dance classes and they ended in June...I haven't set foot in a gym or anything like it since. The most exercise I get is from walking around the mall..lol

  • I said I would continue exercising. Not happening. I still walk but definitely nothing intense.

I tried to swim about 2 weeks ago and it was a hilarious disaster. I swear, I completely just sink in a pool, it was pretty much impossible.

  • Like lots of other girls... Excersise.  I used to be in Zumba 4 times a week.  I slowed down in the first tri as I was getting a bit sick then just stopped.  It is going to be so hard to get back into it.

I am WAY more successful with a kick board.  It holds my weight a bit, and allows me to at least exercise my legs, and keep cool.

  • Only gain 20 lbs. I was overweight when I started and just assumed I would only need to gain 20lbs and I would be good. My OB was on board, I figured I could do it. Ha! I am up at least 20 already and I can't slow it down.

Similar to the exercise posts, I really thought I would be able to run well into the third trimester. Ya, well 2 crappy runs in a row at 19 weeks left me sucking wind and I gave up. I still take boot camp at the gym, but that is only 3 days a week and I never replace the running with anything.

Oh how I miss Sushi!  Stupid MSG in it.  I will have my day of Chinese Food & Sushi and be in bliss.  I will have a migraine for a good 3 days after but I don't care.  I haven't had Chinese Food or Sushi in 2 years.  I have craved both during my pregnancy.  I will sufer the horrible migraine.

  • Add me to the exercise train. I swore I would keep going to the gym, but once the puking started in the 1st trimester (and continued into the 2nd), I stopped going and haven't made it back. The puking has tapered off, but I have yet to see the inside of the gym...

  • With GD starting up so soon for me this round its been hard indulging in any of the no-nos lol!

I do love me a Coke Zero or Diet Dr Pepper at least a couple times a week. Oh and I swore no Mc D's... but damn it those southwest grilled mcbistros are freakin tasty and DD does like an occasional Happy Meal... Meh what do you do.

  • Cold lunch meat. Went until about 24 weeks and HAD to have some. So now it's several times a week. Really living on the edge, I know.

Also, despite still drinking decaf only, I did give in to a few cold cans of Coke at the beach last week. They were heavenly.

Coke is def my soda weakness. I have to have it out of a can too. I think I am salivating thinking about it. I'll have to go get one as soon as I'm out of work!

  • I promised myself that I would not gain more than 25 lbs with this pregnancy. At the doctor today, I discovered that I am up 37 lbs.  It may be from those potato chips and ice cream bars that I swore I would not indulge in. Ha!

This time, I have eaten way more hot dogs & sushi, especially, than I care to admit.

  • Artificial sweetener. I was all, "I AM NOT GOING TO DRINK DIET SODA OR FAKE LEMONADE", but then I realized I wanted a freaking Crystal Lite and I was like, screw it.

I also said I was going to eat a lot more veggies...yeah, just now getting around to really making any effort with that.

  • Soda and coffee... but my worst offense...

We got a treadmill so I could walk every day -- even for a little bit -- and put it in our dining room since we had no space for it anywhere else. I've used it maybe three times and my husband is soooo annoyed that I am taking up precious space. He has offered to move it out to the garage and each time I say "NOOOOOOOOO!!! I'm going to USE IT ONE DAY!!!!!!!"

  • Deli Meat:  I swore I wouldn't touch it, but after realizing that I have more of chance of contracting Listeria from bagged lettuce and cantaloupe I gave it up.

Also, junk food in general.  I swore I would eat all organic and walk everyday.  Yea, about that...

  • With DD I walked everyday on my lunch break until I had her.  This time I bought a pregnancy workout video thinking I'd do it everyday.  Yeah right - only did it once!  I'm way lazier!

That was another one of mine. But take me out to dinner and you'll find me with an iced tea and a some sweet & low.

  • I was super strict first pregnancy.  This time around I've had hotdogs, drink decaf lattes, and have had several sips of DH's red wine.  That's about it, I don't eat sandwiches, sushi or drink cokes anyway.  I also said I wouldn't gain more than 25lbs, but I'm there already with another 7-8 weeks to go.  I tell myself it's OK since I started out 10lbs lighter this time around.  Stupid Blue Bell icecream.
  • I rarely drank caffeine prior to pregnancy so it was an easy "I'll never" at first but then I started to crave it. x.x And no lunch meat until like 15 weeks when I realized the chances of listeria were so small and it was one of my best ways to get protein.

Beyond that, I've managed to walk for ten whole minutes each day...which i guess is better than nothing but nowhere near my half hour goal

This exactly.  I am such a lazy bum. Luckily the heat provides an excellent excuse!

  • I haven't done too well with the exercise thing either.

I said I would never let people touch my belly.  I really thought it would bother me but it doesn't.  I'm talking friends and family here, not random people off the street.  I was at a family wedding last weekend and had hands all over the bump.  Didn't bother me at all.  I also secretly like to talk about the pregnancy but wait for people to bring it up so I'm not that girl who doesn't have anything else to talk about.

  • Caffeine, sweets, and exercise. Although, I have stopped with the caffeine, sweets are what kill me. I eat way more of them than I should. Exercise this time around has been pitiful. I'm hoping that I can get myself into gear soon.

You're my hero.   I'm up 32 pounds and was feeling pretty bummed about it but not enough to stop eating stuff I want.    :)

I said I would never complain about my pregnancy.   That ended at week 6 when I started throwing up 20 times a day.   Now, I complain about my hips, my back, having to pee... lol...but only to you ladies and DH.   The rest of the world thinks I feel "great!"

  • Caffiene and Exercise and eating well.

I'm not a coffee or soda person but i love iced tea, drink one a day and the headaches from 1st tri stayed away so I continued with it.

I'm eat alot of fruit and salad but I also can't stay away from Tim Horton's Vanilla Dip Donuts...just a regular donut with white frosting and rainbow sprinkles on it.  It's such a kid donut but it's soooo good!
