1st Trimester

What is every one drinking these days?

I know, I know- water of course.  But what else are you drinking?  I was a diet soda freak before.  I still have one per day- I need the fizz!!!!  I am also drinking Chrystal Light lemonade.  How concerned are you about aspartame? How much is too much?

Re: What is every one drinking these days?

  • I don't use artificial sweeteners when I am pregnant and in the first few months pp. It is just my personal preference. Right now, I'm drinking decaf tea, water, lemonade, and the occasional Coke. I still have the queasies intermittently and Coke seems to make me feel a little better.

  • the crystal light pure doesn't have aspartame. i mostly drink water and the occasional packet of the crystal light pure (it's got sugar so i shouldn't have much).

  • I usually have a glass of tea or coffee once a day, two if I have a headache.  The rest of the day is water.  I've always been that way though, only cut back on the sweet tea during pregnancy :]

  • I use the Crystal Light Pure Via.  It doesn't have aspartame and it only has 15 calories.  I don't drink enough plain water, so this has been a lifesaver.

  • If you need fizz try sparkling water. That is what I drink.

  • Wine. Delicious, red wine.

  • I will drink a diet soda occasionally when the craving hits.  I didn't drink soda very much before pregnancy but every once in a while I like the fizz.  I figure I don't drink coffee or any other caffeinated beverages so I can handle one soda every week or two.  Other than that I drink water and Silk PureCoconut, the vanilla flavor (I don't drink cow's milk).

  • I am pretty laid back about pregnancy restrictions with food and beverage but I do avoid aspartame.  TBH, I haven't done much research on the subject.  Personally I mainly stick to water.  Occasionally I'll have lemonade, OJ or apple juice.  I actually drink more soda now than pre-pregnancy because I have been using coke to settle my stomach at times.

  • According to AmericanPregnancy.org, aspartame is safe in moderation. I think I only drink it in my one soda a day (unless I have tea and there is no Splenda available). I found a Walmart brand of Crystal Light that uses sucralose that I like much better (for some reason I hate the taste of aspartame in those even though I love Diet Dr Pepper). They do say to avoid saccharin (Sweet n' Low).

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
  • We try to avoid aspartame in our family at all costs. What could be healthier than natural sugar? I have a coffee habit, but I only drink one small cup in the morning. Other than that, water. I may have a lemonade or V8 juice every now and then....oh and milk.

I've always been a water gal, but I also drink a large glass of milk every morning, and occasionally an OJ or Cranberry Juice on the weekends.

I noticed that no one else has mentioned milk. Is that just because of ms, or is there a reason I should be staying away from it?

Just the thought of milk makes my stomach flip.  If you don't get sick from it, there is no reason not to drink it.

  • 1 cup of coffee, 2 glasses of milk, and lots and lots of H20. I will have an occasional soda if I am feeling sick. I have trouble eating fruits and veggies right now, so I have also been drinking those "no sugar added" Naked smoothies. It's been a life saver since baby loves pizza (tomatoes are healthy right?!) and Cheetos.

Once my m/s ended I got the biggest craving for milk. It is perfectly safe to drink! I have 1-2 glasses a day.
